Shiba Tatsuya calmly analyzed the situation. There was no point hiding an ability once it had been exposed; he might as well demonstrate it openly.

"What an impressive assessment!" Even Kudo Mitsunobu could hardly resist the urge to applaud.

"Could you show me what the magic looks like when it's fired? I'm curious now." Saegusa Mayumi patted Kudo Mitsunobu on the shoulder.

"Of course. Now that Tatsuya has explained how the magic works, there's no need to hide it."

"Besides, it's only a C-rank spell."

Kudo Mitsunobu raised the [Night] in his hand again, and everything played out just as it had before.

This time, however, the glowing green Psion Bullet successfully left the muzzle and passed through the magic circle.

"It's called [Dispersion Bullet]."

"I'd originally wanted to develop an A-rank spell, but I had to settle for this because of my limited control."

Kudo Mitsunobu spoke with a regretful expression. His original idea had been to fire the Psion Bullet two hundred meters into the air.

Then the Psion Bullet would rain down indiscriminately on the ground below.

But completing the spell required not only combining acceleration and dispersion magic, but also powerful control over the psions, followed by using movement magic to guide and stabilize the Psion Bullet.

"But I don't think anyone would question Tatsuya's ability now!"

Kudo Mitsunobu put away his [Night] and turned to the Disciplinary Committee members.

"Of course not! Having someone this capable join the Disciplinary Committee is a huge stroke of luck for us!"

Sawaki Midori looked at Shiba Tatsuya with delight.

"Well, Shiba? These people aren't so bad, are they?"

Watanabe Mari gestured to the three Disciplinary Committee members beside her. Even though it was still after school, they had patrol duties, so it was impossible for everyone to be there.

Still, the three of them had made it clear that the Disciplinary Committee was a place where Course 1 and Course 2 Students could work together—provided they had the ability to prove themselves.

"I'm so happy for you, big brother!"

Shiba Miyuki was genuinely glad for her brother. He had proved his ability and earned everyone's respect, and his workplace seemed like a pleasant place to be.

"What do you think, Chairwoman?" Tatsumi Kotaro asked, stroking his chin.

"I'd be happy to have you. I just don't know whether Mayumi would be willing to let you go!" Watanabe Mari looked at Saegusa Mayumi with a teasing smile.

"Of course I wouldn't!"

Saegusa Mayumi immediately rejected Watanabe Mari's suggestion. She knew her friend's personality all too well. If she tried to play tough or claimed she didn't care, Mari would take Kudo Mitsunobu without a second thought.

"Sure, sure, sure!"

"All right, Shiba, come with me to the Disciplinary Committee. I'll explain what your work will involve." Watanabe Mari didn't want to keep teasing Saegusa Mayumi.

"Yes!"

Shiba Tatsuya said a few words to Shiba Miyuki, then left with the others from the Disciplinary Committee.

The Student Council members also parted ways right at the school gates. It was already late, well past the end of the school day.

But now, instead of riding home alone, he had someone sitting on the back of his bike.

The wonderful sensation he'd been faintly feeling against his back for a while now had already left him a little distracted.

"Who would've thought she'd be so petite, yet have such curves?"

Kudo Mitsunobu muttered under his breath.

"Yeah. Dad went to the Magician Association for something, and my sisters went out to play. As for my brothers, they moved out a long time ago."

"That's good."

It wasn't that Kudo Mitsunobu was afraid of meeting Saegusa Mayumi's family. It was just that showing up at someone's home for the first time without bringing anything felt a little awkward.

A little while later, Saegusa Mayumi came over with one of her younger sisters on each side. The girl who had just sharply called out to him still looked clearly displeased.
