Chapter 21: Such Perfect Features

Kudo Mitsunobu returned home early today because he had received a message from Retsu Kudou right after school ended.

However, what was sent to Kudo Mitsunobu wasn't the data on the Shiba siblings directly, but a request for a video call after school.

"Good evening, Mitsunobu."

"It is good to see you in such good health, Grandfather."

There were no useless formalities between the grandfather and grandson; they simply exchanged a normal greeting.

The only difference in this video call from previous ones was that it wasn't just the two of them; Kuki Ken, who had worked for the Kudo Family for many years, was also present.

Kuki Ken had been following Retsu Kudou since the latter was young, and even in his old age, he hadn't returned to his own branch family, choosing instead to remain by the grandfather's side as a butler.

After finishing, Kudo Mitsunobu let out a long breath and then gave a wry smile.

"Honestly, Grandfather, I just thought they were perfect adjusters created by one of the Ten Master Clans."

"But who would have thought they actually belong to the Yotsuba Family."

Retsu Kudou rested his hands on his knees. "Indeed! But Mitsunobu, what is your reason for believing Shiba Miyuki is an adjuster?"

"Her appearance!"

"Her appearance?"

Kuki Ken couldn't help but ask. What did that mean? How could one judge someone as an adjuster just by their looks?

"Of course. Aside from myself, have you two grandfathers ever seen a human with such perfect features?"

"If she were merely beautiful, that would be one thing, but her facial features are perfectly symmetrical, and her body proportions are equally flawless."

"I can think of no other reason than that she is an adjuster."

Kuki Ken and Retsu Kudou accepted this reasoning quite readily; after all, their own grandson was a living example.

If not for his own grandson, Retsu Kudou would never have believed such a perfect human could exist in this world.

"Still, the Yotsuba Family is quite troublesome, isn't it?"

"And it seems the two of them even have a blood connection to the current head of the Yotsuba."

There was no helping it; Kudo Mitsunobu couldn't be blamed for saying so. Shiba Tatsuya aside, Shiba Miyuki looked far too much like the head of the Yotsuba.

"Those Shiba siblings must be Maya's children! Especially Shiba Miyuki; she is the spitting image of Maya when she was a child."

Retsu Kudou stated with certainty.

"How is that possible!"

"They should only be direct descendants of the Yotsuba Family. If they were the children of Yotsuba Maya, how could they possibly have undergone magical genetic adjustment?"

Kudo Mitsunobu immediately retorted. He knew that his grandfather had once had three disciples.

One was the current head of the Saegusa Family, Saegusa Koichi.

The other two were the genius sisters of the Yotsuba Family from back then, Yotsuba Maya and Yotsuba Miya.

After all, current adjusters faced certain issues with their lifespans, rarely living past forty, and if they had experienced intense combat, their lives would be shortened even further. Thus, most adjusters today were the children of the previous generation of adjusters.

Furthermore, given Yotsuba Maya's magical talent, any child she bore could not possibly have low magical aptitude. How could she possibly allow her own flesh and blood to undergo such adjustments?

If that is the case, doesn't it mean that Kudo Mitsunobu's theory about Shiba Miyuki being a Modified Human is incorrect!
