Watanabe Mari poked at her bento box with her chopsticks, looking rather dissatisfied.
Normally, she wouldn't have cared about such things; if anything, she enjoyed seeing Saegusa Mayumi flustered whenever she brought up the topic.
But who would have thought that since last week, Saegusa Mayumi had suddenly wised up, shedding her previous bashfulness and becoming quite bold.
To make matters worse, Mari and her own lover were constantly apart, yet she had to watch those two canoodling in the Student Council room all the time.
So, she was currently in a very foul mood.
"President, I would like you to worry about our school's technician shortage first. There are only ten days left until the Nine Schools Competition, and we still haven't found a qualified technician."
Ichihara Suzune seemed much more indifferent to the sight of the two lovebirds; in fact, she didn't really care about that sort of thing at all.
"But there's nothing I can do! If only Kudo Mitsunobu could help adjust the CADs, that would be great."
Upon hearing Ichihara Suzune's words, Saegusa Mayumi looked deflated, then cast a resentful gaze toward Kudo Mitsunobu.
"Senior, do you take me for an iron man? I have to participate in the competition while also adjusting CADs for the contestants. Even if my Psion count is sufficient, my mind will still get exhausted."
Kudo Mitsunobu casually tapped Saegusa Mayumi on the head as she sat beside him.
"It's true. While our school has been very strong in practical combat over the past few years, we have always been in a state of extreme shortage when it comes to technicians."
"Mayumi and Jumonji have always been able to adjust their own CADs, which helped alleviate the pressure on the school's technical staff at the time."
"With the graduation of the third-year technical students last year, combined with the new students enrolling this year, the technician shortage has flared up again."
Watanabe Mari was also at a loss regarding this situation.
Watching Shiba Tatsuya trying to slip away from his seat, Kudo Mitsunobu stopped tapping his fingers on the table.
He hadn't been tapping the table because he was struggling with how to solve the technician problem, but rather because he was debating whether or not to reveal the solution.
But seeing everyone so distressed, he let out a soft sigh.
"Tatsuya, where are you in such a rush to go?"
Shiba Tatsuya's hand, which was holding his bento box, paused. "It's nothing. I'm full, so I thought I'd go for a patrol."
Shiba Tatsuya didn't actually need to be at school today, as he wasn't scheduled for Disciplinary Committee duty, but he had requested a shift change to accompany his younger sister, who was practicing at school.
"I recall you adjusted a CAD in the Student Council room that day, didn't you?"
"Yes, that's correct!"
Shiba Tatsuya sighed; he had already guessed what Kudo Mitsunobu was going to say next, which was exactly why he had wanted to escape the Student Council room early.
"Then that's perfect. Tatsuya, why don't you serve as the technical staff for the competition?"
"That's right! What a blind spot! I remember that your CADs, Miyuki, are always adjusted by Junior Shiba, aren't they?"
Saegusa Mayumi instantly perked up, her eyes gleaming as she stared at Shiba Tatsuya.
"But I am a first-year student, and a Course 2 Student at that."
"If I participate, it will surely cause dissatisfaction among everyone in the school."
Shiba Tatsuya attempted a final struggle to deflect this troublesome task.
"But rather than having someone unfamiliar adjust your CAD, wouldn't it be more reassuring and allow for better performance if your own brother did it?"
"Miyuki?"
After three months of interacting with them, Saegusa Mayumi had perfectly grasped Shiba Tatsuya's weakness.
He generally tried to avoid all troublesome matters, but once his younger sister was involved, he would helplessly accept them.
Thus, Saegusa Mayumi had struck exactly where it hurt.
"That's right! I also want my brother to adjust my CAD personally for the Nine Schools Competition."
"Is that not possible, Brother?"
This was a backstab from his own sister, Shiba Miyuki.
Shiba Tatsuya finally had nowhere left to run; he could not refuse his sister's request.
"I understand. I will contribute my part to this competition."
"Then let's convene a meeting immediately and ask Jumonji and the others to vote on it!"
Saegusa Mayumi was delighted and immediately made the final decision. Clearly, she was in a very good mood now that this matter, which had troubled her for so long, was about to be resolved.
"Is something on your mind?"
While heading to the Student Council room, Saegusa Mayumi noticed Kudo Mitsunobu lagging behind the group, looking preoccupied.
"It's nothing," Kudo Mitsunobu replied.
"I see. That's good."
The reason for his complicated mood was that he still didn't know what attitude to take toward the Shiba siblings, but he had decided that until he determined his own policy, he would no longer take the initiative to give them opportunities to showcase themselves as he had before.
It was fine for now that they weren't actively revealing their true identities, but once they did, their performance at school would only elevate the Yotsuba clan's reputation even further in the eyes of other magicians.
Of course, this didn't mean he intended to deliberately suppress the Shiba siblings.
But who would have thought that none of these people would have considered the fact that Shiba Tatsuya could adjust CADs, leaving him as the only one who could bring it up.
"I should find some time to have a talk with those two siblings first!"

Chapter 36: The Traitor of the Course 1 Students
The conference room was already almost completely full, and this was certainly not because of Shiba Tatsuya; it was because this meeting was not held solely to decide whether or not he could become a technical staff member.
Rather, it was because this meeting was simultaneously the one where the final roster for the Nine Schools Competition would be set in stone.
