Chapter 49: Can She Really Eat Her Fill?
Kudo Mitsunobu wondered whether Saegusa Mayumi could possibly feel full after eating so little. He certainly didn't want her ruining her health by restricting her food every day just to maintain her lovely figure.
"I'm not dieting! I've just always had a small appetite!"
Saegusa Mayumi said with an awkward smile.
"If you don't believe me, ask my sisters sometime. I've always eaten this much."
"Oh, then never mind..."
Since Saegusa Mayumi had said so, Kudo Mitsunobu accepted it. Some people were born with huge appetites and could eat a lot; perhaps there were also people who could get by on very little while still meeting their bodies' daily needs.
While the two of them chatted, the server from earlier arrived, pushing a cart laden with their food.
"Sir, miss."
"Everything you ordered is here. Please enjoy."
The fluffy, golden egg soufflé gave off a rich milky aroma, while the chopped parsley and bits of fruit scattered over it added a tempting fragrance. When Saegusa Mayumi gently pressed it with her spoon, it bounced right back.
The baguette, cut into little pieces, had been toasted until crisp. Kudo Mitsunobu picked up a piece and tapped it lightly against his plate. It broke cleanly in two.
