The man with short brown hair started to rise to offer a salute when he saw Jumonji Katsuto approaching.

Jumonji Katsuto's attitude was different from how he had treated Kudo Mitsunobu just moments ago; he accepted the gesture with composure.

He also gestured for Kudo Mitsunobu to sit, then introduced the two men, who were meeting for the first time.

"So, Hattori-kun, have you given any thought to what I discussed with you yesterday?"

Once the introductions were concluded, Jumonji Katsuto finally asked.

"Of course. Since you, Jumonji-senpai, have extended the invitation, I have no reason to refuse."

After all, he was well aware that he had no hope of becoming the student council president, so he might as well join the Federation of Clubs.

Having the experience of leading the Federation of Clubs would be an excellent addition to his resume, whether for university applications or future employment.

After saying this, Hattori Hanzo looked toward Kudo Mitsunobu and offered a gentle smile.

"Besides, with such an outstanding underclassman as Kudo-kouhai, I have no worries left."

Kudo Mitsunobu, having nothing pressing to do, decided to chat with Jumonji Katsuto about school matters while he finished his meal.

"Alright then, Mitsunobu, you take your time eating. Hattori and I will head out first."

Hattori Hanzo ate noticeably fast; he finished his meal and left with Jumonji Katsuto before he had even said a few words.

Chapter 7: This Seems Quite Interesting

As Kudo Mitsunobu was packing up his belongings, Saegusa Mayumi appeared outside the door again, though this time she was not alone.

Standing outside with her was another tall woman with short hair, who looked full of spirit.

"Is there something you need, Mayumi-senpai?"

He did not want to be delayed by trivial matters today, as he had heard before school ended that someone was planning to settle a score with Shiba Miyuki's brother, the Course 2 student.

He wanted to head over there now to see if he could catch a glimpse of Shiba Miyuki taking action to protect her brother.

If he could see that, he might be able to glean some clues from the nature of Shiba Miyuki's magic.

"It's nothing! It's just that Mari was a bit curious about you, Mitsunobu-kun, so I brought her over to take a look."

As she spoke, Saegusa Mayumi waved her small hand at Kudo Mitsunobu.

"Mayumi, I clearly said I was looking forward to meeting him tomorrow at lunch."

"You were the one who insisted on dragging me here, saying we had to go right now."

Watanabe Mari was clearly feeling helpless regarding Saegusa Mayumi's impulsive personality.

"Watanabe Mari. I'll be sure to look after you."

Kudo Mitsunobu extended his hand, and Watanabe Mari shook it briefly before pulling away.

"However, I have noticed something quite interesting, Mayumi."

Watanabe Mari scanned the two people present, and combining that with their previous conversation, a curve slowly formed at the corner of her mouth as if she had realized something.

"What is it?" Saegusa Mayumi asked, tilting her head.

"They are both upperclassmen you just met, yet you address them so differently."

"Besides, you kept bringing up this underclassman all through lunch today."

"Mayumi, using me as an excuse doesn't seem very appropriate, does it?"

"Mari, what are you talking about! I'm just bringing you along to take a look, that's all."

Saegusa Mayumi did not show the blushing, flustered expression that Watanabe Mari had hoped to see.

Instead, she remained so composed that Watanabe Mari began to think her own suspicions were wrong.

"Besides, the only reason I mentioned Koushu is because he gave me a very good approach to solving that problem."

"Is that so?"

Watanabe Mari narrowed her eyes; she still felt that something about Saegusa Mayumi was not quite right.
