"This guy's getting worse and worse!"
A Moebius pilot shouted excitedly over the comms.
He moved the Moebius faster and more aggressively, maneuvering around the Ginn and attacking it with repeated long-range fire.
The other Moebius units acted just like this one!
Seeing the situation, Hawkins could only do his utmost to maneuver the Ginn and dodge the attacks. The more he dodged, the more it drained his mind and concentration.
As time went on, Hawkins's condition steadily worsened.
A momentary lapse allowed a bullet to hit the Ginn's arm, which exploded against its body. The blast's vibrations traveled through the Ginn's frame and into the cockpit.
Feeling the vibrations from the explosion, Hawkins gritted his teeth and kept operating the controls.
He charged toward a Moebius.
The other Moebius pilots immediately aimed at Hawkins from behind and from both sides, opening fire.
Attacks coming from so many directions foiled Hawkins's plan.
He had no choice but to pilot the damaged Ginn and dodge.
In the back-and-forth, one Moebius worked with the others to circle around behind the Ginn. Its machine-cannon fire struck the Ginn's high-density energy battery pack.
The moment the battery pack was hit, warning messages flashed across the cockpit screens. Seeing the damage report, Hawkins's face showed a trace of unwillingness to give up.
Still filled with frustration, he took one last look toward District Nine of Junius City. At that moment, he saw his own bullet hit the missile.
He saw the missile explode!
He felt relieved. Shouting over the comms, he cried out,
"Protect Ju—"
Before he could finish, the explosion from the high-density energy battery pack shattered the cockpit, and the blast swallowed Hawkins whole.
The Moebius pilots who had just taken Hawkins down had no time to celebrate. One of their units was hit from behind.
Before the pilot could react, the explosion swallowed him.
The others quickly maneuvered their Moebius units to avoid being ambushed from behind.
As the Moebius units maneuvered, two Ginns charged toward them, clearly intending to take them out.
Districts Seven and Eight of Junius City
Felix did not yet know that his team leader had died.
Piloting his Ginn, Felix fought with all his might against the Moebius units intercepting him in this area.
As the Ginn turned to dodge bullets, he replaced the Heavy Assault Machine Gun's magazine.
With a fresh magazine and a full load, the Heavy Assault Machine Gun opened fire as the Ginn turned to face forward.
Predicting the enemy's maneuvering trajectory, he fired. The bullets struck the Moebius's propulsion system along its projected path.
Its propulsion system faltered, leaving the Moebius unable to maneuver as deftly as before. Under Felix's control, the Ginn dodged attacks from other directions and seized the chance to charge in.
The Heavy Slash Blade swung in his hand!
One slash cut the Moebius down.
"Heine, how's the interception of those missiles going?"
After taking out the Moebius, Felix asked Heine over the comms. In the middle of the battle, Heine spared some of his attention to answer.
"Aside from your area, we've also completed the interception in District Nine of Junius City, but the interception near District Ten of Junius City isn't complete yet!"
"Damn it!"
Felix let out an anxious curse.
As he spoke, he maneuvered the Ginn to dodge an attack, then raised the Heavy Assault Machine Gun and opened fire on a Moebius.
The Moebius pilot maneuvered the Mobile Armor to dodge the attack.
Then he turned and fired at the Ginn Felix was piloting!
Under Felix's control, the Ginn rapidly maneuvered to dodge the incoming bullets. Once clear, Felix kept moving to evade attacks from other directions.
After dodging them all, Felix squeezed the trigger.
The Heavy Assault Machine Gun fired.
The bullets raced straight toward the enemy ahead.
With a precise prediction of its movement and the bullets traveling at high speed, the Moebius was pierced and exploded in an instant.
After blowing up the Moebius, Felix continued maneuvering the Ginn.
The Ginn's thrust increased further.
It charged toward a Moebius at tremendous speed.
The Moebius pilot maneuvered to dodge while continuously firing its machine cannon.
Even with both tactics, he could not hinder Felix's Ginn at all.
The Ginn maneuvered right up to the Moebius.
The Heavy Slash Blade swung in his hand.
The blade landed squarely on the Moebius.
A moment later, the Moebius exploded.
Before it blew up, Felix had already maneuvered the Ginn out of the way.
Just as he was about to head toward District Ten of Junius City, several Moebius units swarmed him again.
They blocked his path forward.
Unable to break through the blockade by maneuvering, Felix had no choice but to pilot the Ginn into a dogfight with the Moebius units.
He raised the Heavy Assault Machine Gun!
The muzzle aimed at a Moebius ahead. The Fire Control Radar locked onto it, while the Quantum Computer's powerful processing capabilities and Felix's fine adjustments worked together.
The moment the aim was corrected, he fired.
The bullets burst from the muzzle.
They flew toward the enemy ahead.
The instant the Ginn opened fire, the Moebius maneuvered to dodge. Its evasive path took it directly to the bullets' destination.
There was no surprise when the bullet struck it.
The light of an explosion flared ahead.
After taking out the Moebius, Felix piloted the Ginn onward.
The remaining Moebius continued to harass Felix, once again restricting the Ginn's movements.
Felix had no choice but to turn the Ginn around and fight.
As he turned, Felix saw an even more violent explosion.
The blast was so powerful that Felix maneuvered the Ginn, fired at the Moebius units to force them back, and then turned around.
Felix's pupils contracted at the explosion before him!
District Ten of Junius City, which had been intact, was already beginning to collapse and break apart from the blast.
"Ah!!!!"
A cry of unbearable grief rang out over the comms.
Hearing the mournful cries, Felix's eyes turned bloodshot as he gripped the controls tightly.
"You damn bastards!"
He growled.
Felix piloted the Ginn toward District Ten of Junius City.
An unfamiliar command rang out over the comms!
"All units near Junius City, split into two groups. One group, head to District Ten of Junius City to rescue the escape pods; the other, continue holding off the enemy attack!"
