With a puzzled sound, Felix abruptly raised his head from his deep bow and met Patrick Zala's eyes.
Looking into Felix's somewhat puzzled eyes, Patrick Zala tapped the desk twice, then spoke with a faint smile.
"Is there something you don't understand?"
Felix looked at Patrick Zala and uttered a single questioning word, then closed his mouth, gathering his thoughts as he considered what Patrick Zala had in mind.
The smile faded from Patrick Zala's face, and his expression grew more serious as he explained.
"PLANT's future needs decisive, far-sighted young people like you. Besides, I don't want PLANT's
future to be filled with people who share the Clyne Faction's ideals."
At that point in his explanation, Patrick Zala thought of his own son, and the thought drew a deep sigh from him.
Hearing that explanation, however, Felix thought of checks and balances.
Speaker Zala really is thinking far ahead!
With that thought, Felix straightened and saluted Patrick Zala, answering solemnly.
"Rest assured, Speaker. I will remain unwavering in defending PLANT's interests and will not allow them to suffer any harm."
Hearing that assurance, Patrick Zala nodded in satisfaction. Then he rose, walked over to Felix, and reached out to pat his shoulder, his eyes full of expectation.
"Felix, I have high hopes for you. Don't disappoint me this time."
Looking at him, Felix answered with sincerity in his eyes.
"Rest assured, Speaker. When it comes to defending PLANT's interests, I will never disappoint you."
Patrick Zala nodded in satisfaction at his words, then returned to his seat.
He looked up at Felix, his expression turning serious as he asked in a testing tone.
"Felix, if you were sitting in my position, what would you want to do in the future? Or rather, what would you do for PLANT?"
