"Hmm!"
Nodding in agreement, Andrew replied with a tone of self-reflection.
"This matter was indeed a lapse in my judgment."
"Report!"
A report from the doorway interrupted what Felix was about to say. Turning toward the entrance, he saw a soldier in a ZAFT green uniform standing there.
"Come in!"
The two words reached the soldier's ears.
The soldier walked into the room carrying some documents, stepped up to Felix, and saluted. Felix nodded slightly and asked.
"What is it?"
"Captain, the casualty report for this battle has been compiled." As he spoke, the soldier handed the documents to Felix.
Taking the papers, Felix asked with a heavy expression.
"What are our losses?"
"In this engagement, we deployed a total of one hundred MS sorties. We destroyed three hundred and seventeen Earth Alliance Forces Vanguard Fighter units and two hundred and fifty-two ground vehicles.
However, our own losses amount to fifty-six MS!"
Under Felix's questioning, the soldier briefly summarized the battle report. Hearing the loss of over fifty units, Felix clenched his fists.
These losses were even higher than those sustained during the airborne assault to capture Victoria Spaceport.
"Captain, during this battle, the Earth Alliance Forces found a way to communicate and re-target, which rendered our advantage under the Neutron Jammer almost non-existent.
Our losses have increased significantly compared to the occupation operation."
Seeing Felix's grim expression, the soldier offered some context regarding the report. Felix nodded slightly and waved the soldier away.
Seeing the gesture, the soldier saluted and turned to leave the room.
After he left, Felix read the report in detail, then leaned back in his chair with a sigh of helplessness.
"Our forces here are dwindling. If we fight another battle, our losses will only expand further.
By then, even if we survive a second engagement, we will hardly be able to withstand a third."
The words of resignation escaped Felix.
Andrew said nothing, leaning quietly against the table with his eyes lowered, contemplating matters with a sorrowful gaze.
"Captain Waltfeld, please take charge of the troops for now. I need to communicate with the Ministry of Defense to ensure we can hold this position rather than being devoured by the Earth Alliance Forces."
Looking at Andrew, Felix made his request.
Andrew, entrusted with the task, nodded slightly and gave his word.
"Rest assured, you can leave these matters to me."
Receiving Andrew's reply, Felix stood up and headed toward his quarters.
Meanwhile, at the frontline command post of the Earth Alliance Forces tasked with retaking Victoria Spaceport:
Hope gathered his staff and officers in the conference room.
"In this battle, we deployed five hundred and thirty-five Vanguard Fighter units and four hundred ground vehicles. Yet, despite such a massive force and suffering over fifty percent losses, we only managed to destroy fifty-some ZAFT MS.
What do you all think of this performance?"
Sitting in his chair, Hope kept a straight face, his stern voice carrying a tone of accountability. The adjutants and staff officers present lowered their heads, and silence filled the room.
The silence lasted less than a minute before Horton looked up and spoke first.
"Commander, our poor performance and heavy losses are entirely due to this one ZAFT MS!"
As he spoke, Horton pulled up some data.
The files displayed none other than the White Ginn piloted by Felix.
Having done so, Horton continued.
"According to statistics, this MS destroyed approximately one hundred of our Vanguard Fighter units and about fifty of our ground vehicles. You could say that nearly one-third of our losses were caused by this single machine.
If not for its existence, the sheer number of units we deployed would have been enough to wipe out the ZAFT frontline forces."
"Exactly!"
No sooner had Horton finished than a staff officer chimed in. After agreeing, he continued.
"Commander, if not for him, our pre-battle simulations showed that our deployed forces would have completely wiped out the ZAFT frontline combat units.
After eliminating that wave, with follow-up reinforcements, we could have retaken Victoria Spaceport in this operation.
But because of its existence, our pre-battle simulations were rendered completely useless."
"Indeed! Commander, the pilot of this MS is like a monster; his growth rate is terrifyingly fast. When he first appeared on the battlefield, he was formidable, but not to this extent. Yet, after only a few battles, he is now capable of destroying an entire flight division of our forces single-handedly."
At this point, the staff officer paused, his tone tinged with pessimism.
"Furthermore, we have yet to discover where this guy's limits lie. Destroying an entire flight division single-handedly might not even be his limit!"
"What is the point of inflating his ego here?"
Though he retorted with these words, Hope had to admit in his heart that this fellow from ZAFT was simply too terrifying.
For a single pilot in one MS to be worth at least an entire flight division was something they wouldn't have even dared to imagine in the past.
"I will report this guy's situation to headquarters and let them make the appropriate judgment."
Calming his inner emotions, Hope spoke up.
Having said that, Hope continued.
"For the next two days, we will rest here and reformulate our tactics, adopting a missile strike strategy against the ZAFT forces at Victoria Spaceport.
While launching the missile strikes, avoid the spaceport's mass driver; do not let the missiles hit the mass driver."
Having said this, Hope looked at the others and asked.
"Are there any other objections to this tactical arrangement?"
"None!"
Everyone sitting there said in unison.
Seeing this, Hope announced the end of the meeting.
"Dismissed!"
As soon as these two words were spoken, he stood up first and walked toward the exit of the conference room. The others followed behind Hope as they walked out, chatting along the way.
"Is the pilot of that white MS really a Coordinator? I feel like this guy is a monster; calling him a Coordinator feels like an insult to him."
"Indeed! It feels like this guy is a Coordinator among Coordinators, completely different from the others."
