Background / History
Nosa lived alone in a forest cottage after her grandmother's death, surviving among wolves, bears, saber-toothed tigers, and magical creatures. She traded forest specialties with nearby villages and claimed that her grandmother had left her “friends” that would not harm her. Her unusual isolation, small stature, and ease around beasts led Kas and Morse to suspect a connection to witchcraft 9 10.
Her family was destroyed by a prophecy and the Forest Witch's manipulation. Her father, a beast tamer and hunter, raised hyenas for the witch; his obsession with securing the prophesied child led to the death of Nosa's family. Nosa inherited her father's beast-taming and archery and her mother Angeli's weaving talent, then grew up loved by her remaining family 15.
After her family died, Nosa built an underground tomb beneath the cottage and became bound to the forest's beasts. She later lured Kas and Seneya to her home with the promise of a map, while concealing the hyenas and human flesh connected to the cottage's crimes 9 11 13 14.
Appearance
Nosa is a petite, slender young woman with a deliberately storybook-like appearance, contrasting sharply with the physically imposing Rishiman people around her.
- About 1.6 meters tall; roughly two heads shorter than Kas 9
- Golden hair, with loose strands falling over her forehead 8
- Pale yellow or amber-colored eyes 8 9
- Usually wears a red velvet hood and a simple linen dress 8 9
- Carries a vine basket for mushrooms and matsutake when first encountered 8 9
- Later uses a bow and steel-tipped arrows 16 17
Personality
Nosa initially appears cheerful, trusting, and intensely affectionate. She approaches the werewolf Seneya without fear, praises her appearance, embraces her, and immediately calls her “big sister” 9.
Her kindness is inseparable from profound loneliness and resentment. Seeing Seneya as another cursed outcast, Nosa wants to shelter her in the forest and protect her from the rejection she expects humans to show a former werewolf 16 18. This protectiveness turns violent when she concludes that Kas will eventually abandon Seneya.
After reconnecting with her mother's love through the umbilical cord, Nosa acknowledges her wrongdoing without defending it. She accepts Seneya's decision to leave with Kas and requests that Kas use her mother's cord to kill her 18.

Trivia
- Nosa's red hood and forest setting prompt Kas to internally compare her to “Little Red Riding Hood” 8 9.
- Her cottage appears undefended, yet dangerous forest animals avoid it because of her bond with the beasts 10.
- Although Kas initially considers her a witch, the text specifically attributes her animal-commanding skill to her father's beast-taming legacy 15.
