But she still had room to grow. Ai had a dream: to trample Vermouth beneath her feet.
Although Ai no longer harbored such great hostility toward Vermouth, her resentment could not be erased overnight.
Ai still found Vermouth thoroughly unpleasant, and of course, Vermouth also had plenty of complaints about the Haibara sisters.
They would not come to blows, but they bickered quite a bit in everyday life. Ai never seemed to get the upper hand, though. Poor Ai.
"Vermouth, eat," Chen said to Vermouth, who was about to say something else.
Vermouth, who had been about to continue mocking Ai, reluctantly shut her mouth.
After Chen spoke up, Ai glanced at him, but only for a moment before looking away again.
Clearly, Ai was still angry with Chen, and it really was Chen's fault. He should have gone to Teitan Elementary School to see her sooner.
"Ai, I'll take you to school tomorrow," Chen said as he placed a chicken wing in Ai's bowl.
"No need," Ai replied coldly.
Though Ai's voice was cold, Chen could still hear the anticipation in her heart. Ai really was a tsundere.
After dinner, Chen comforted Ai. Though she did not forgive him on the surface, she had already forgiven him in her heart.
As for why she would not admit it aloud, all that could be said was that you would not understand the world of a tsundere.
Early the next morning, after breakfast, Chen went over to Ai and said, "Let's go. I'll take you to school today."
"No. I don't need you to."
Ai slung her little backpack over her shoulders and headed outside. When she reached the door, her steps paused slightly.
Chen quickly caught up to her, took her hand, and walked with her toward Teitan Elementary School.
