"With the Hogyoku, who could possibly scare me now? Who? Hahaha!" Hyuga Shin could no longer keep his composure. He burst into wild laughter.
But joy never came without trouble. When people got carried away, disaster followed; when dogs got carried away, the whole pot of soup spilled; and when rabbits got carried away, they got shot!
The system, which had been silent all this time, suddenly piped up.
[An error occurred during the draw. This draw is void. Please draw again, Host.]
Hyuga Shin's smile froze. Life was full of dizzying ups and downs. Just moments ago, he'd been soaring through the heavens. Now the system had kicked him straight into the ground.
"System, get out here. I promise I won't beat you to death," Hyuga Shin said through gritted teeth.
Chapter 11: King's Treasure! Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack!
The system remained silent.
"I don't care. You have to compensate me for this, or else..." Hyuga Shin awkwardly realized that there was nothing he could do to the system.
"This was your mistake. You have to give me some compensation, right?" His system refused to play by the rules, and there was nothing Hyuga Shin could do about it. All he could do was ask for a little something.
After a year of getting to know it, Hyuga Shin knew his system was extremely rigid. It had no intelligence, let alone feelings. There was no point in trying to reason with it or appeal to its emotions.
So Hyuga Shin simply seized on its mistake. After all, this time, the system really was at fault.
[The Host is in the right. Reward: one Compensation Gift Pack, 100,000 exchange points, and one draw.]
Only then did Hyuga Shin nod in satisfaction. He didn't argue with the system any further. Getting all this was already pretty good. Even if the system gave him nothing, there was nothing he could do about it. One had to know when to be content.
"Draw again!"
The prizes hadn't changed. The pointer began racing around, then quickly slowed. This time, nothing went wrong. It stopped on King's Treasure.
A golden key appeared in Hyuga Shin's hand. He opened King's Treasure, and golden light blazed out. It looked incredibly impressive, but there was nothing inside.
"This thing's useless for now. At best, it's a storage room," Hyuga Shin grumbled.
He already had the system's inventory, so King's Treasure wasn't even qualified to be a storage room.
"I'll keep it. Maybe it'll come in handy someday!"
Hyuga Shin put away the key and clicked the draw button. The system had compensated him with another draw, so he might as well use it.
The prizes refreshed again. There were six in all: Tsukuyomi, the Secret Taijutsu Technique: Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack, Master Swordsman-level Swordsmanship, the Impure World Reincarnation Jutsu, Yomotsu Hirasaka, and the Zanpakuto Senbonzakura.
Hyuga Shin was delighted. Even the weakest prize, the Master Swordsman-level swordsmanship, would be of great use to him.
He quickly clicked to draw. The pointer spun rapidly, then came to a stop on Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack.
A stream of light entered Hyuga Shin's mind. He had now learned the basics of Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack.
But knowing the technique didn't mean he could use it. Setting aside the chakra it consumed, it was a Kekkei Mōra technique. He couldn't use it at all right now.
"Though I don't know how powerful the Eight Inner Gates Formation—Night Guy is, it definitely can't surpass Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack," Hyuga Shin murmured.
He exited the draw screen and went to check the system's Compensation Gift Pack. Judging by what he'd gotten from the last one, this one shouldn't be bad either.
This time, Hyuga Shin had learned his lesson when he opened the pack. He quickly shut his eyes, afraid the dazzling golden light would blind him.
Two or three seconds later, Hyuga Shin opened his eyes. There were still three items: an injectable serum, Armament Haki, and a whole box of canned beef.
Ignoring the canned beef and the Armament Haki he already knew, Hyuga Shin turned his attention to the injectable serum.
Super Soldier Serum (System-Modified Version): Raises physical abilities tenfold without any side effects.
The description was brief, but Hyuga Shin already knew what it was. Wasn't this the serum Captain America had injected?
Hyuga Shin felt a little disappointed. The serum was powerful, but it still fell far short of his expectations.
[Host, a reminder: this serum has been modified by the system. As long as you haven't broken through to the Six Paths Realm, it can raise your physical abilities tenfold.]
Hyuga Shin's eyes lit up. That was downright outrageous. Did that mean that at the Super Kage level, he could rely on Taijutsu alone to fight on equal terms with someone at the Six Paths Level?
At the thought, Hyuga Shin quickly put the serum away and stored it carefully. He'd save it for later.
Using it now might feel great for a while, but he wouldn't be able to get the most out of it.
After that, Hyuga Shin opened the System Store and bought Shadow Clone Jutsu and Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu.
Shadow Clone Jutsu cost 30,000 exchange points, while Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu cost 50,000. Without the system's compensation, Hyuga Shin couldn't have afforded them.
"This store feels like window dressing. The stuff it sells is way too expensive, and you barely get any exchange points."
Looking at the prices in the store, Hyuga Shin grumbled.
After learning Armament Haki, Hyuga Shin exited the System Space. He had no intention of training, so he flopped onto his bed and went to sleep.
He slept until late morning, warm sunlight shining on his handsome face.
Hyuga Shin rubbed his eyes, then sat up and checked the time. It was already past nine.
"Looks like I can't let myself slack off. Once I do, I get lazy."
Before, even after training all day, Hyuga Shin would get up before six. But after taking it easy for an entire day yesterday, he'd gotten up even later.
He quickly got up and washed. He didn't feel like cooking, so he took out the canned beef from the Compensation Gift Pack he'd opened yesterday.
Hyuga Shin ate five cans in a row, then patted his stomach, changed into his training clothes, and picked up the kunai and shuriken he'd bought.
He strapped on the specially made lead weights and went out the door.
The sunlight fell across Hyuga Shin's face, making him squint. A hint of laziness flickered in his eyes.
"Sigh. If I could, I'd really like to take a good rest."
"Hyuga Shin, I didn't expect you to get up so late. What a disgrace. How can you be so lax if you want to become a powerful ninja?"
Hyuga Teppan had been playing ninja with a group of Hyuga Clan kids in the yard. When he saw Hyuga Shin, he walked over and spoke.
"By the way, why are you always away from home? I can never find you when I want to play ninja with you," Hyuga Teppan complained without waiting for a reply.
"We don't want to play with him! Mom said he's a good-for-nothing and told us not to play with him," one of the kids nearby retorted.
Hyuga Teppan felt awkward. On one side were his playmates; on the other was his underling—at least, that was what he considered the boy. He didn't know what to do.
After thinking it over, Hyuga Teppan still chose his playmates.
Hyuga Shin smiled. He wasn't about to hold it against a bunch of kids. It was already Year 26 in Konoha.
The Second Shinobi World War would take place in Year 32 of Konoha—six years from now.
