"Here." Chen took out a box of cake and handed it to Ran.
Ran froze. Where had Chen gotten that cake from?
"Chen, where did you get this?" Ran asked curiously.
"Of course, I stole it."
"Huh?"
"I'm joking. I made it appear with magic. What do you think?" Chen asked with a smile.
"Made it appear with magic... but can this really be eaten?" Ran looked skeptically at the cake in her hands.
Wasn't magic basically all fake? This should just be a prop, right?
"No, it's a real cake. If you don't believe me, try it."
Ran nodded and opened the package. She believed Chen would not deceive her.
Heiji Hattori began demonstrating the culprit's method.
"The murderer first stabbed a poisoned needle into the victim's neck, killing him. Then he snatched the key and pulled out the fishing line tied to the needle."
Heiji Hattori took out a fishing line and fastened its other end to the key's pendant.
He then threaded the needle through the victim's pocket, helped Inspector Megure, who was temporarily playing the victim, onto the chair, and arranged him in a chin-propping pose.
Ran watched curiously while eating her cake.
"Ran, you've got cream on your face." Chen took out a tissue and wiped the cream from the corner of Ran's mouth.

Chen looked at Ran rather speechlessly. She had actually been moved that easily.
However, Chen did not know that he was the first person to care for and look after her like this. Although Eri Kisaki cared deeply about Ran, work and their separation meant she had been unable to see Ran for a long time.
