Background / History

Shinichi Kudo witnessed a murder at Tropical Land, pursued a suspicious man in black, and was forced to ingest APTX4869. The drug reduced him to an elementary-school child. To conceal his survival and protect those close to him, he adopted the name Conan Edogawa, drawing it from Edogawa Rampo and Arthur Conan Doyle, while Professor Agasa became his confidant in maintaining the secret. 762

Conan stayed with Ran Mouri and Kogoro Mouri, publicly posing as Professor Agasa’s distant relative. He used Kogoro’s detective agency as a way to encounter cases and pursue traces of the Black Organization, whose drug had transformed him. 849 951 954

After Heiji Hattori witnessed his transformation, Conan revealed his identity to him. The two detectives formed a partnership to investigate the Black Organization, obtain an antidote, and keep Conan’s identity concealed. 848 849
