"Dad, did you know Mom had already returned to Japan?" Conan demanded irritably.
"So that's what this is about. Then don't meddle in it." Yusaku Kudo hung up after saying that.
Conan stared at the phone in shock. Yusaku Kudo had actually hung up on him too. He was furious.
Conan stood at the intersection with his phone in hand, dazed for a moment before calling Yusaku Kudo again.
"Shinichi, I'm busy right now. I have a manuscript deadline, and I need to finish it immediately. Don't interrupt my train of thought," Yusaku Kudo said.
"Dad, I'm telling you, Mom is in danger right now, do you know that?" Conan said angrily.
"Danger?" Yusaku Kudo paused before saying, "What danger could she possibly be in? Did you cause trouble again?"
Conan was speechless. But Yusaku Kudo was right—he had indeed caused trouble. Hadn't getting involved with the Black Organization been asking for trouble?
"Dad, you should come back and take Mom away," Conan said, without mentioning the Black Organization.
Yusaku Kudo frowned. He was a smart man, and judging from Conan's tone, he was eighty percent sure that Conan had gotten himself into trouble.
And it was definitely something Conan could not handle himself.
"Tell me. Did you offend some major force?" Yusaku Kudo asked seriously.
"No, I didn't offend anyone," Conan stubbornly replied. He did not intend to tell his father, Yusaku Kudo.
The more people who knew, the greater the danger. Besides, that was simply Conan's personality—he liked handling matters by himself. Otherwise, he would have told Yusaku Kudo long ago.
"Fine, if you won't say it, forget it. But tell me first—what do you mean Yukiko is in danger?" After a moment of silence, Yusaku Kudo did not press the matter further.
"It's like this. Mom suddenly
