Background / History

Birth at Star Fall Pavilion

While preparing to oppose the Soul Hall, Yao Chen absorbed the Spirit Rhinoceros Heart Flame and Cherry Blossom Scarlet Flame into his existing Dream-Illusion Blazing Flame. Their fusion unexpectedly produced a sentient monkey-shaped spirit. The creature climbed onto Yao Chen’s shoulder and rubbed against his face, prompting him to name it Kong Kong 73.

Yao Chen later explained that Kong Kong’s birth involved his soul power inadvertently merging with the Heavenly Flame. After resting on his shoulder, Kong Kong returned to Yao Chen’s body; completion of the flame fusion brought Yao Chen to the fifth turn of peak Dou Venerable 74 78.

Alchemy and Early Battles

Kong Kong’s first major task was helping refine the Bone-Growing Blood-Melting Pill for Venerable Skyfire’s resurrection. He rapidly processed ordinary herbs inside his body, but needed Yao Chen’s assistance with three resistant ingredients. After five days of refinement, he intercepted the resulting five-colored Pill Lightning, allowing the tier-eight pill to survive 74 75.

During Yao Chen and Xiao Yi Xian’s search for beast materials, Kong Kong swallowed the Heavenly Poison Scorpion Dragon Beast’s attack and killed the fleeing creature with flames. He subsequently destroyed Ice River Valley’s formation-created ice dragon, though Bing He’s ice mirror repelled him 78 79.

In the ensuing battle, Kong Kong protected Yao Chen from Xue He’s Blood Transformation Technique and fought Bing He. He then merged into the Dragon Abyss Star Sword for Yao Chen’s decisive Star Annihilation Sword attack, before incinerating the remaining Soul Hall and Ice River Valley members 80 81.

Alliances and the Three Thousand Burning Flame

At Burning Flame Valley, Kong Kong’s presence intimidated Tang Zhen’s Nine Dragon Lightning Flame. He later served as the vessel for refining Tang Huo’er’s Fire Bodhi Pill and absorbed its Pill Lightning. Yao Chen also used his threatening display to secure the other Pavilion Masters’ agreement to the Four Directions Pavilion Alliance 89 90 91 98.

Before entering the Star Domain, Kong Kong severely wounded Old Man Mu Gu and coated Yao Chen’s sword in flames for the killing strike. Inside the Star Domain, he defeated the Three Thousand Burning Flame after hundreds of exchanges, then swallowed it. Its resistance nearly ruptured his body, but Yao Chen’s intervention enabled a successful fusion 106 107 108 109.

During the Soul Hall’s subsequent ambush, Kong Kong fought the Great Heavenly Venerable with a four-colored fire staff but gradually lost ground. He later became a protective flame ring against Hun You’s black mist 111 113.

Xiao Xuan’s Resurrection

Yao Chen summoned Kong Kong in the Heavenly Tomb to provide a new body for Xiao Xuan. After entering the flame spirit, Xiao Xuan judged its power likely comparable to the top three Heavenly Flames. Yao Chen supplied Dou Qi and soul power while Xiao Yan sealed the surrounding space against interference 144.

Over three months, Xiao Xuan’s remnant soul merged with Kong Kong’s consciousness and Heavenly Flame body. Kong Kong’s original consciousness completely vanished, replaced by Xiao Xuan’s will. His monkey-shaped body transformed into Xiao Xuan’s middle-aged human appearance, restoring Xiao Xuan to nine-star Dou Saint strength 145.

Kong Kong initially resembles a small, agile monkey composed of pale yellow, pink, and purple flames 73.

Kong Kong is affectionate, curious, and playful. He nuzzles Yao Chen, celebrates receiving his name, and excitedly surveys unfamiliar surroundings. He also expresses admiration for Xiao Yi Xian through chattering and gestures, which Yao Chen interprets as saying that she is beautiful and that he wants to play with her 73 78 144.

His playfulness coexists with fierce obedience in battle. He eagerly challenges Pill Lightning, continues fighting despite wounds, and returns to Yao Chen seeking praise after destroying enemies. His resistance to the Three Thousand Burning Flame demonstrates stubborn endurance even under severe pain 75 81 108 109.
