Background
Lin’s recorded background identifies him as a mixed Shenzhou and Far East child born in Changkong City. His public history states that his parents died early, after which he spent time in an orphanage before becoming independent. Later revelations show that his biological parents belonged to an ancient organization and had experimented on him to produce a “Holy Child” or “Savior.” He was known as Zero before becoming Lin, and the experiments forcibly accelerated his mental development. 301 484 492
After joining MOTH, Lin distinguished himself through solitary extermination missions and the design of specialized combat equipment. He rejected the label of “warrior,” insisting that he was a soldier. His exceptional physical capabilities were offset by extremely low Honkai Energy adaptability, leaving him vulnerable to corrosion in high-Honkai environments. 2 3
A Phase Transfer Device incident cost him a leg, and later injuries required Mobius to replace his left hand. Although he returned to the battlefield with upgraded prosthetics and armor, Honkai erosion left him with an estimated five years to live. 5 11 19
Appearance
Lin is usually recognized by his unadorned full-coverage helmet and specialized powered armor, which conceal most of his face and make him appear impersonal to other MOTH soldiers. 3 11
- Black hair, usually hidden beneath the helmet. 179
- Soft, slender eyebrows and comparatively delicate facial features. 179 574
- Sharp eyes that contrast with his softer features. 574
- A customized helmet that scans his iris and floods him with tactical information. 2 11
- Specialized armor with upgraded jump gear, jets, grappling systems, and external storage capacity. 11
Personality
Early in his MOTH career, Lin is cold, terse, and almost entirely mission-focused. He avoids unnecessary social contact, processes overwhelming quantities of battlefield information himself, and appears to others as a machine built to fight Honkai. 3 His bluntness is not usually intended as cruelty; he tends to say exactly what he thinks without considering whether it will inspire affection or hostility. 169
Beneath this distance, Lin is deeply affected by the lives he has taken. He preserves their memories in a cemetery within his heart and carries the burden of those deaths even when others only see an efficient combatant. 9 He is particularly protective of juniors, especially Pardo Felis, and later takes responsibility for her physical training. 76 291
Lin is analytical, methodical, and willing to take severe risks when others are endangered. He relies on observation, battlefield adaptation, and contingency planning rather than confidence in his own survival. 14 214 614 Outside combat, he reads novels and maintains his old handgun, retaining ordinary habits that contrast with his reputation. 173
His identity and demeanor periodically destabilize due to memory loss, alternate selves, and consciousness-related events. During one such period, he became openly cheerful, talkative, and flirtatious before eventually returning to his usual somber self. 300 301 324
Abilities & Skills
Combat Aptitude and Tactical Analysis
Lin is an elite close- and mid-range fighter capable of defeating high-level Honkai Beasts, Mortals, enhanced soldiers, and Herrschers through rapid analysis and unconventional tactics. 3 9 76
- Uses firearms, blades, spears, explosives, vehicles, and environmental hazards interchangeably. 9 76
- Can process the massive data output of his helmet without the simplification required by normal soldiers. 3 11
- Adapts quickly when unarmed, injured, or deprived of standard equipment. 9 14 614
- Capable of fighting despite extreme mutilation, including voluntarily severing an arm to evade a sword technique. 462 632
Phase Transfer
Lin uses a Phase Transfer Device for short-range spatial movement and tactical repositioning. 76 158
- Can abruptly leave or re-enter an engagement through “Phase Shift.” 76
- Uses the device to compensate for enemies with superior raw power or mobility. 76 158
- The technology carries serious side effects and was later treated as forbidden to manufacture. 353
Key of Blankness and Herrscher Authority
The Key of Blankness is an atypical Divine Key that embeds and drives Herrscher Cores rather than being powered by one fixed Core. 246 472
- Allows Lin to link with Herrscher Cores and wield corresponding Authority. 472 473
- Enables use of Divine Keys such as the Black Abyss White Flower and Phoenix when sufficient power is available. 472 473
- His Pseudo-Herrscher Core can resonate with the Black Abyss White Flower and access traits of cores that previously tainted him. 412
- Borrowing the Herrscher of Reason’s Authority places severe strain on the Core; even sustaining the Black Abyss White Flower can drain it to its limit. 432
Great Void Sword Qi
Great Void Sword Qi is a cultivation method that channels Honkai Energy to imitate the Authority of a Herrscher. Zero introduced the technique to Lin during their confrontation. 440
- Lin trains to understand and reproduce its principles rather than relying on raw Honkai output. 440 443
- His knowledge of the technique later impresses Tesla and supports the plan to seek Fu Hua’s remaining teachings at Mount Taixu. 658
- He can employ Tai Xu Divine Essence in large-scale clashes. 721
Artificial Collapse
Lin can activate Artificial Collapse and assume a complete Honkai Beast form. 598
- Greatly increases his physical power against opponents such as Kevin. 598
- Produces silk-like threads and an ability to phase through objects before reappearing elsewhere. 598 721
- He reverts to human form after use, leaving him physically exposed and exhausted. 721
Regeneration and Sixth Herrscher Traits
Lin’s body develops unusual survival and recovery traits as his Herrscher transformation progresses. 400 420
- Demonstrates rapid healing while fighting the Flame-Chaser squad. 400
- Concludes that he can no longer die normally after Sixth Herrscher characteristics manifest in him. 420
- His regeneration can be slowed when the Black Abyss and a cross suppress his Honkai Energy. 432
Limitations
- His Honkai Energy adaptability was originally assessed as extremely low, making concentrated Honkai exposure potentially fatal. 2
- Honkai erosion once reduced his expected lifespan to approximately five years. 19
- After Hypervariable Surgery, he temporarily lost bodily sensation and could not reliably judge his injuries without helmet assistance. 225 597
- His highest-output abilities depend on equipment, available Herrscher Cores, and his ability to maintain consciousness. 432 462 473
Equipment
- Helmet terminal — Lin’s signature tactical interface; identifies him through iris scans and provides dense real-time combat data. Prometheus Unit 1 was later integrated into its system. 11 28
- Titan — A mech Lin helped design and pilots in simulation; its altered production design favored exceptional pilots over ordinary soldiers. 2
- Powered armor — Custom armor with mobility systems, storage capacity, and performance too demanding for normal soldiers. 3 11
- Raikiri — Katana modeled after the Third Herrscher’s shield and named by Lin. 21
- Seven Sword Armament katana — A second melee weapon provided alongside Raikiri. 21
- Phase Transfer Device — Spatial-mobility device used for tactical jumps. 76 158

- Holy Sword Seventy-Nine — Weapon delivered by Zero and combined with Oath of Judas against the Black-eyed person. 731
Relationships
- Elysia — Began as a persistent, friendly senior who showed concern for Lin despite his coldness. She later reveals that they had a secret past relationship. 2 19 511
- Kevin — Lin’s old friend and fellow anti-Honkai combatant. Their bond endures through MOTH, the Flame-Chasers, and later conflicts. 3 23 761
- Mobius — Physician, experimenter, and uneasy benefactor who replaced Lin’s hand, supplied experimental toxins, and monitored his transformations. 11 14 400
- Pardo Felis — A junior toward whom Lin shows unusual affection and patience; he later becomes her strict physical trainer. 76 291
- Prometheus — Originally Lin’s helmet-support AI, later an independent being whom Lin associates with family affection. 28 530
