The Federation commander knew this mission had already failed, and he decisively ordered an immediate retreat.

If they left too late and were caught by the Zerg Hive Mothership, they would be finished.

After skimming sideways past the mining facility structures spanning the canyon, the ten ships abruptly raised their bows, intending to return to the surface.

But Tang Shizhe's sharp eyes suddenly caught sight of a pointed corner exposed from the canyon above them.

Its shape instantly matched a certain turret on the left side of the Hive Mothership in his mind.

Cold sweat immediately trickled down Tang Shizhe's forehead.

The Zerg fleet had already flown above them and laid in ambush outside the canyon—or perhaps it had caught up with them long ago and simply never revealed itself!

Ships flying within the canyon had no way to scan enemies hiding on the surface outside. Besides, the enemy controlled orbital space; they did not even have a chance to deploy satellites.

What was the Zerg's purpose in doing this? Could it be merely to make them return empty-handed? Tang Shizhe shook his head, unable to figure out why the enemy had done this. Since he could not work it out, he might as well report the situation to the Federation commander. One person's wisdom was limited; many minds were better than one.

"Put me through to the Federation commander!" The moment Tang Shizhe spoke, the Federation commander appeared on the screen.

Tang Shizhe's expression turned grave. "I just discovered signs of the Zerg fleet on the surface on both sides of the canyon. They are very likely lying in ambush up there. If we rush out recklessly, we'll only die—"
