Background / History

Yu Xiaogang was once the anticipated Young Sect Master of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Family. At age six, however, he awakened a purple pig Martial Soul, later called Luo Sanpao, and became the subject of sustained ridicule within his clan. Unable to advance through cultivation as expected, he chose Martial Soul theory as an alternative path to recognition. 50 95 96

After years of being disparaged as a disgrace to his family, Yu Xiaogang asked his father, Sect Master Yu Yuanzhen, for permission to leave the clan. He departed with only clothes and a thick stack of notes, resolving to seek a way to evolve Luo Sanpao or become a renowned theorist instead. 95 96

He traveled to Martial Soul City, intending to use its library to continue his research. Three months on the first floor produced no method for improving his Martial Soul, so he sought access to the higher floors by approaching the Saintess, Bibi Dong. 98 99

Yu Xiaogang presented Bibi Dong with a manuscript he described as an original theoretical system. Its contents included broad classifications of Martial Souls, development directions for Spirit Masters, and the use of heated Whale Rubber to strengthen the body before Soul Ring absorption. Bibi Dong judged much of it to be common knowledge and recognized the Whale Rubber material as information discovered by Su Mo; she had Yu Xiaogang removed from the library. 100 101

After hearing of the incident, Su Mo ordered Gui Mei to give Yu Xiaogang a severe but nonlethal lesson and expel him from Martial Soul City. Gui Mei delivered him to death-row inmates, who tortured him for several days. Upon his release, Martial Soul Hall publicly accused him of plagiarism and attempting to steal the Saintess's secrets, revoked his Spirit Master subsidies, and banned him from its libraries. 101 102 103

The Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Family subsequently expelled Yu Xiaogang to protect its reputation and avoid conflict with Martial Soul Hall. Rather than abandon his ambitions, he decided he would one day train an exceptional disciple to defeat Martial Soul Hall on his behalf. 104

Two years later, Yu Xiaogang met Flender and gained his loyalty by portraying himself as a victim of Martial Soul Hall and his former clan. After reaching level twenty, he attempted to obtain a thousand-year second Soul Ring in the Star Dou Great Forest, only for Su Mo and Bibi Dong to force him to absorb a ten-year ring instead. 109 110 111
