Background / History

High Priestess of Sea God Island

Bo Saixi grew up on Sea God Island, regarding service to the Sea God and protection of the island as her life's mission. Becoming High Priestess also bound her to an eventual sacrifice: she would give her life to open the inheritance path for the Sea God's successor. She accepted this responsibility without complaint, spending decades guarding the Sea God Temple in solitude 130 131 135 143.

In this novel's early timeline, Qian Daoliu and Tang Chen had never visited Sea God Island. Neither knew of Bo Saixi or her Sea God Martial Soul 5.

Deep Sea Demonic Whale King

Bo Saixi first meets Su Mo while he is hunting the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King for his ninth soul ring. She asks him to stop because the whale is a trial reserved for the Sea God's successor. Su Mo instead proposes that she help him kill it 127.

Unsure how to reconcile her duty with the presence of another god's inheritor, she contacts Poseidon. Following his order to assist Su Mo, she unleashes her ninth soul skill and helps corner the whale; Su Mo delivers the killing blow. The attack exhausts her soul power, but she recovers and remains beside him for a month while he absorbs the ring 128 129 130.

Relationship with Su Mo

Under Poseidon's decree, Bo Saixi welcomes Su Mo to Sea God Island as an honored guest exempt from its rules. Their walks through Seahorse City introduce her to street food and companionship outside the temple. During his four months of cultivation on the Sea God Staircase, she visits him every day 130 131 132 134.

When Su Mo confesses his feelings, she initially hesitates over their age difference and her predetermined fate. His promise to change that fate persuades her to accept him. They celebrate Valentine's Day in Sea Dragon City, and their relationship soon becomes known throughout the island 134 135 136 139.

Their connection also prevents a confrontation with Martial Soul Hall. When its expedition arrives to subdue the island, Xiao Bai reveals that the Hall's Holy Son is already Bo Saixi's lover. Bo Saixi subsequently welcomes Bibi Dong, Ah Yin, and Ye Qingshuang and supports their training 139 140 141.

Sea God Inheritance

Su Mo asks Poseidon to pass his divine position to Bo Saixi, challenging the usual restriction that a god's high priest cannot become a god. With Asura God's backing, Poseidon grants her the opportunity, while still requiring her to complete the inheritance trials 142 143 149.

Su Mo retrieves the Sea God's Heart for her and helps her extract the Sea God Trident. Although she becomes eligible for the final trial, she delays it because she fears ascending to the God Realm before Su Mo can accompany her 152 157 158.

She changes her mind after learning that a newly ascended god can remain in the lower realm for a hundred years. Poseidon personally opens the Gate of Inheritance, removing the need for a High Priestess's sacrifice 182 183.

The final inheritance tests her six desires through painful soul-bone removal and illusions. Its last temptation offers an illusion of Su Mo who promises to love only her and remain on Sea God Island forever. Remembering the real Su Mo's warning, she rejects and defeats the illusion, then inherits the Sea God Divinity 183 184.

Departure for the Mainland

As the new Sea God, Bo Saixi places Sea God Island's affairs in the hands of the Seven Sacred Pillar Douluos until she can cultivate a new High Priestess. She then leaves for Martial Soul City with Su Mo and his companions 184.

Despite her divine status, she respectfully greets Qian Xunji as Su Mo's teacher. Her later presence in the Spirit Hall Empire is one of the reasons Tang San concludes that he needs a divine inheritance of his own to oppose it 185 290.

Privately, she is inexperienced in romance and initially uneasy about public affection. Su Mo's companionship brings out a warmer, playful side, though she continues to struggle with the difference in their ages and perceived worthiness. When offered Poseidon's inheritance, her first reaction is disbelief that she deserves it 135 136 137 142.

Her final trial demonstrates both resilience and self-awareness. She recognizes her buried desire to have Su Mo entirely to herself, but refuses to let that desire override her understanding of him or her acceptance of his other partners 183 184.
