I'm Back
Ye Xinglan stood beside Xu Xiaoyan and Yuanen Yehui, the two girls comforting her.
Tang Wulin and Xie Xie were also nearby. Zhang Huanyun and the others had confirmed that Yun Jingheng might really have gone to blow up the Abyss, and that he was going alone. Everyone else was there, and no one had returned to camp.
Just then, white light shone from all five of them.
The white light came very suddenly.
There was no fluctuation of Soul Power, nor any indication of Half-Sweet Coffee.
Five beams of light shot into the sky almost simultaneously.
Ye Xinglan was the most radiant.
The light emanated simultaneously from her heart, wrists, and knees; the mark that had been buried within her long ago had finally arrived at this moment.
She paused, as if she had remembered something.
Xu Xiaoyan cried out in surprise.
Xie Xie and Tang Wulin tried to move, but found themselves frozen in the light.
Yuanen Yehui didn't struggle.
She saw the white light on her body surge towards the sky, merging with the beams of light from the people around her.
Five beams of white light converged above the rift, like five fingers reaching out from the snowfield, tearing it apart suddenly.
Then, a dark shadow was "spit out" from the beam of light.
The figure was extremely fast and extremely heavy.
No one saw it clearly.
With a loud thud, the person crashed into the snow and rolled five or six times.
Snow and mud splashed everywhere.
He rolled until he stopped, then lay sprawled in the snow as if his body had fallen apart.
C... it should have been later, I used Instant Explosion too early!
But the next moment, he moved.
He pressed one hand into the snow and pulled his body down.
Dark Moon – Breath Concealment.
All the energy emanating from him seemed to be extinguished at once, like a lamp suddenly blown out.
Immediately afterwards, a Abyssal Passage and deep roar came from the depths of the abyss.
The sound surged upwards from below, cutting through layers of obstacles, carrying a chilling pressure that sent shivers down the spines of the entire Far North.
"How dare you! You killed my guest! And stole my things! Humans! You just wait—!"
No one spoke; everyone seemed frozen in place by the sound.
Only Ye Xinglan moved.
She ran towards the figure that had just rolled out and then quickly disappeared.
Her footsteps sank into the snow, one deep, one shallow step, as if she couldn't hear anything.
The Dark Moon could conceal her aura, but it couldn't conceal her eyes.
She found him immediately.
Yun Jingheng knelt in the snow, his right hand resting on the Heaven Saint Rift Abyss Halberd.
His face was covered in blood, and his lips were pale blue.
When Ye Xinglan rushed to Yun Jingheng's side, there was already a small patch of blood dripping from his body on the snow.
He saw Ye Xinglan running towards him and gave a very slight smile.
"I'm back."
Ye Xinglan remained silent.
She crouched down and slapped him across the face.
But in the end, that palm strike only lightly touched the side of his face.
The blow missed, her hand trembled violently, and Yun Jingheng didn't dodge.
He turned his head and gently touched the fingers that hadn't fallen.
Ye Xinglan suddenly couldn't hold back anymore. She grabbed his collar with her other hand, pulled him towards her, and hugged him tightly.
Yun Jingheng groaned as he was hugged, clearly aggravating his injury.
The moment Ye Xinglan hugged him, it felt as if something had suddenly pierced her chest from within.
She could have endured it.
For four months, she didn't shed a single tear in front of him.
He went into seclusion, and she stayed by his side; he left, and she stood ramrod straight.
Even when the Little Gummy Bear was pointing a cannon at everyone, she didn't back down.
But now, Yun Jingheng was covered in blood, kneeling in the snow, and even turned his head to rub her still-fallen fingers with his almost broken body.
She suddenly broke down.
Her shoulders began to tremble, and then she pressed her whole body against him, as if trying to embed herself into his arms.
Tears came fiercely and suddenly, gushing from his eyes and splashing onto the old, faded shirt draped over his shoulder.
Her hand was still gripping his collar, her knuckles terribly white, as if afraid that if she let go, he would fall back into that Abyss.
Yun Jingheng didn't move; he let her cry, letting her tears flow into the crook of his neck.
It was so hot that his eyes started to sting.
Her hand slid from his collar to the back of his neck, then gripped the fabric of his back, twisting the entire piece of cloth until it was wrinkled.
She cried so hard she was trembling all over, so hard she couldn't breathe, as if she wanted to vomit out all the bitterness that had been stuck in her chest for four months.
"Yun Jingheng... Yun Jingheng, you bastard..."
Her voice was broken from crying, each word stuck together, "How dare you... how dare you do this again... do you know how scared I am..."
"Every night I dream of you shouldering everything alone... Do you know I was standing outside just now, too afraid to move... I was afraid that if I took one step away... you really wouldn't come back..."
She spoke haltingly, and with each sentence, she hugged him tighter.
Tears had soaked his neck completely.
She even cried so hard she felt nauseous, and collapsed onto him as if all her strength had left her, her fingers still clutching his clothes tightly, as if afraid that if she let go, the person in front of her would melt into the snow.
Yun Jingheng didn't move; he let her cry.
She poured everything she had accumulated over the past four months, and even everything that had been left since Shrek City was gone, onto him.
His left arm, the one not holding the halberd, slowly tightened, pulling her completely into his embrace.
He was incredibly strong, so strong that it felt like his own wounds had been torn open.
He could feel her trembling, and he could feel her crying so hard that her breathing became erratic.
His eyes were burning hot, and his throat felt like it was stuck.
He lowered his head, buried his face in her hair, and whispered, "I'm back. I won't leave again."
She cried so hard she almost passed out.
Tang Wulin, Xu Xiaoyan, Xie Xie, Yuanen Yehui all stopped there.
No one went over.
Xie Xie his face away, his fingers clenched tightly at his sides, his shoulders trembling.
Tang Wulin stood at the front, watching them. Snow fell on the Golden Dragon Spear, accumulating into a thin layer.
He exhaled a very light puff of white air, finally letting go of something that had been weighing him down so much that he could barely hold his gun.
Zhang Huanyun watched from afar. The old man didn't speak, but simply stuck his knife into the snow, as if to hold back all the winds of the Far North that night.
The white light shone on them, and the roars from the passage had not yet subsided.
But the person spat out of the Abyss is now embracing his beloved, sitting amidst blood and snow, slowly coming back to life.
"Open your mouth, ah~"
Ye Xinglan scooped up a spoonful of porridge and held it to Yun Jingheng's lips.
He was leaning against the headboard, his face and neck wrapped in bandages, his right arm immobilized, and only his left hand was free to move.
Given his current physical condition, he should be able to walk tomorrow.
But he just wouldn't move, obediently opening his mouth and letting her feed him.
That look was so much softer than when she was walking sideways in the Abyss.
Ah~
Tang Wulin stood to the side, expressionless. "So you called the four of us over just to eat your dog food?"
Yun Jingheng swallowed the porridge, turned his head to look at him, and said matter-of-factly, "Otherwise what? I almost died in there. Can't I even have something hot to eat after I got out?"
After he finished speaking, he turned to Ye Xinglan and said, "More."
Ye Xinglan glanced at him, said nothing, scooped up another spoonful, blew on it, and brought it to his lips.
Xie Xie was slumped in his chair, utterly dejected. "The four of us just came down from there. My legs are still weak. And you guys, one feeding the other, is there any justice in this world?"
Xu Xiaoyan nudged him. "Keep your voice down, he's really injured."
Xie Xie pointed at Yun Jingheng: "His left hand can move and grasp, he doesn't need to be fed!"
Yun Jingheng didn't speak, but instead moved his face closer to Ye Xinglan.
Ye Xinglan touched his lower lip with the bottom of the spoon and whispered, "Stop fooling around."
His tone was so light it had no intimidating power whatsoever. Yun Jingheng's eyes crinkled like a well-fed cat.
Yuanen Yehui, carrying her hot water, said slowly, "I'm leaving now. It's too sweet here; I'm going to get diabetes."
She had barely turned around when Xie Xie jumped up. "I'll go with you! We can't stay here!"
Xu Xiaoyan smiled and pulled Tang Wulin by the sleeve to walk outside.
"Hey, wait a minute."
The four people turned around.
Yun Jingheng propped himself up on his left hand, sat up a little straighter, looked at them, and smiled, "Return to Shrek in three days."
