Background / History

In ancient Egypt, the young king inherited a seemingly prosperous but deeply scarred dynasty. Facing the Underworld’s retribution for his ancestors’ forbidden acts, he chose to seal the darkness by offering his own name and soul; the conflict between light and darkness nevertheless continued. 107 293

The Pharaoh identifies himself as the king’s Ka, the vital essence that embodies his inner self and unfinished war. He distinguishes himself from the Pharaoh’s Ba, the personality associated with the Millennium Puzzle, and from the true name, ren, used to seal the Great Evil God. 107

Three thousand years after the sealing, he appears independently in Chaos Soldier’s form and meets Yu Ming in the Underworld. He explains the connection between the Millennium Items, the Gate of the Underworld, and the darkness threatening both worlds. 107 153

The Pharaoh is gentle and composed, but carries the caution of a king shaped by war and the Underworld. He approaches threats such as the Ghouls, Bakura, and Rafael with suspicion rather than blind trust, while retaining a direct sense of justice. 204 326
