"You're slandering me!" Danzo roared angrily, slamming a fist onto the Hokage's desk.
Bang!
The desk before Minato Namikaze split down the middle, documents and assorted items scattering across the floor.
Yet Minato Namikaze did not even glance down. He merely said calmly, "Whether it is slander or not, Elder Danzo knows perfectly well. You already know what this is about. This is the decision of all of Konoha's upper leadership. I don't want anything unpleasant happening within Konoha, and I believe Elder Danzo doesn't want that either. After all, you have worked for Konoha all these years too, haven't you?"
Taking a deep breath, Danzo forcibly calmed himself. At that moment, he suddenly understood how the Uchiha Clan had felt back then.
It was the feeling of being isolated by all of Konoha's upper ranks.
"I understand," Danzo said through gritted teeth, slowly turning around. "One day. I will give you my answer in one day."
Watching his back, Minato's gaze narrowed slightly. "I trust Elder Danzo will make the right decision. We will await your answer."
The sound of the door closing rang out, and Danzo vanished from the room. This time, he did not have the cane he had brought with him, because Danzo had already crushed its handle in his grip.
"Lord Danzo." Inside Root's base, a masked figure stepped forward to greet him. Seeing Danzo's dark expression, he wisely chose not to ask any questions.
After returning to the innermost secret chamber, Danzo asked with a grim face, "How many shinobi can Root mobilize now?"
The shinobi lowered his head and answered, "Three hundred and seventy-six. All of them are elites. Even the weakest are Chunin."
