Kisame's complaints had long since become something both Deva Path and the other Akatsuki members were used to.
No one paid him any attention. Finding no audience for his antics, Kisame fell silent.
Deva Path spoke at that moment. "This meeting was called by Danzo. He says he obtained important intelligence and wants to share it with everyone."
"Important intelligence?" Kakuzu's eyes immediately lit up. One of his professions was information broker; to him, no intelligence was worth keeping secret as long as the price was right. And the more valuable the information, the higher the price it usually commanded.
Seeing everyone's eyes turn toward him, Danzo gave a dry cough. "This intelligence came from Konoha informants. Around several days ago, the Hyuga Clan of Konoha was attacked by a mysterious youth, who successfully abducted Hyuga Hiashi and Hyuga Hinata."
"Oh?" The Akatsuki members showed obvious surprise. They had all participated in that great war against Konoha and naturally understood Konoha's strength.
For someone to single-handedly snatch people from Konoha—and figures of such high standing at that—his strength was easy to imagine.
"That kid's pretty strong," Kisame praised. There were few people he sincerely admired. In the original story, Uchiha Itachi had been the only one he had ever truly praised.
Deidara spoke up then. "Even so, what does that prove? It's a good thing that someone's targeting Konoha. We can just watch. Don't tell me you want to recruit that kid into the organization, boss?"
"No." Deva Path immediately rejected the idea. "Listen carefully to what Danzo has to say next."
Danzo's expression remained unchanged. "Yes. If that were all, there would be no need for us to make such a fuss. But through my subsequent investigation, I discovered something that may interest everyone. That youth possesses the Tenseigan."
