Uchiha Madara smiled, using chakra to cling to the wall as he walked up it step by step.
"Are you even a mage?" Watching Uchiha Madara's movements, Belaque said speechlessly, "Why does it seem like you're good at everything?"
"I've never admitted that I was a mage. You're the one who keeps putting that label on me." Uchiha Madara reached the top of the wall as he spoke.
"What's going on up there?" Belaque asked Uchiha Madara. "What did you see?"
"Come up and see for yourself. There's nothing in here. The entire Winterfort is empty," Uchiha Madara replied.
After hearing Uchiha Madara's words, Belaque leaped lightly onto the city wall and stood beside him.
Looking over the enormous Winterfort, Belaque found it exactly as Uchiha Madara had said—completely empty. There was not a single person anywhere within sight. Aside from the cold wind, there was no sound at all in this vast Winterfort.
"Isn't that a good thing?" Belaque said to Uchiha Madara. "There's nothing here, and nothing has happened. I think you're overthinking it."
"That just shows you have no experience with danger. It's strange precisely because there's no one here," Uchiha Madara said.
"Just as you said earlier, the people of Winterfort might not have enough manpower to guard the gates, but there should still be people inside. A city this large having no one in it at all—that's the strangest part," Uchiha Madara continued.
Although Belaque had not believed Uchiha Madara at all at first, after listening to him alarmingly speculate beside her for so long, she was starting to believe him a little.
"Maybe something really did happen," Belaque said after thinking it over.
"Let's go down and take a look. But be careful—there may be some kind of danger inside Winterfort." As Uchiha Madara
