Uchiha Shin and the others left the Netherworld Well and headed south. Based on their investigation, they arrived at a place called the Sand Shadow Kingdom.
It was said that people often went missing in the Sand Shadow Kingdom. The local officials had searched for them before, but never found anything.
They had also heard from the locals that five years ago, a black monkey demon had appeared in the Sand Shadow Kingdom. It was extremely powerful. At the time, they had invited many Daoist priests to capture the demon, but not only had they failed to catch it, the demon had killed many of the priests instead.
However, the demon eventually vanished without a trace, and the matter was left unresolved.
Yet even after the monkey demon disappeared, people in the Sand Shadow Kingdom continued to go missing. No one knew who was responsible.
Uchiha Shin and the others searched a vast area but found no trace of the black monkey demon. Since a monkey demon had once appeared in the Sand Shadow Kingdom, they decided to investigate the place.
Uchiha Shin and the others did not bring the Heavenly Soldiers into the kingdom. Instead, they had them wait in a mountain range some distance away from the Sand Shadow Kingdom, with the Six Sages of Mei Mountain and the Grass-Head Gods of Guanjiangkou remaining there as well.
Then Uchiha Shin, the monkey, the Curtain-Rolling General, Yang Jian, and the Howling Celestial Dog entered the Sand Shadow Kingdom.
After arriving in the capital of the Sand Shadow Kingdom, they began investigating the matter.
They went to a tavern. Since all sorts of people came and went there, it was the best place to gather information.
