"I don't know about that. I've heard quite a bit about Mahayana Buddhism, but I don't understand its specific effects either," Goku said.
Xuanzang remained silent beside him.
"Actually, I think that no matter what kind of Buddhist teachings they are, they're only a means to an end. Aren't you cultivating Mahayana Buddhism in order to save all living beings? Isn't it to make the entire Three Realms a better place?
"As long as you can achieve that goal, any method will do. Whether you want to reason with others or use your own strength to intimidate the Three Realms, either is fine. As long as you can fulfill the wish in your heart, it's enough. Even if you don't cultivate Mahayana Buddhism, that's fine too. There are countless paths in this world; there will always be one suited to you."
Goku said this to Xuanzang.
He knew that Xuanzang was in a poor mood because of Elder Jinchi's death, so he tried to comfort him.
Xuanzang's eyes lit up after hearing Goku's words. "Goku, you are absolutely right. Before, this humble monk had trapped himself within a fixed framework. I always believed that only Mahayana Buddhism could save the Three Realms, that it alone was the true Buddhist path.
"Now that I have heard your words, I realize I was wrong. Every path in this world is correct. If you believe one is wrong, it is only because it has been placed in the wrong position. There are no wrong paths in this world, only wrong places. Just as you said, saving the Three Realms does not require a single method. There are countless methods in this world. I believe I will certainly find a way suited to me, a path that can save the Three Realms."
