"You've got the right idea. What matters is knowing yourself—recognizing your shortcomings and constantly working to make up for them. That's how you become strong."
"Thank you for your guidance, Clan Head." Mirai spoke to Uchiha Fugaku. But in his heart, he thought, Damn it, if you really knew yourself, you wouldn't be plotting a rebellion. Anyone can talk pretty. Why not just lead your clan out of Konoha? Still, he kept a sincere, attentive expression on his face.
Suddenly, Uchiha Itachi's mother, Uchiha Mikoto, called out, "Dinner's ready. Come and eat!"
"Let's eat!" Uchiha Fugaku said with the air of the head of the household. He rose and headed for the dining room, with Mirai and Uchiha Itachi following behind.
During dinner, Uchiha Fugaku told Uchiha Mikoto that Mirai had awakened his Sharingan. She was surprised, since the Sharingan was a Kekkei Genkai possessed by only a tiny fraction of the Uchiha clan. She couldn't help but see Mirai in a new light.
After dinner, Mirai got ready to leave, and Uchiha Itachi walked him out. When their figures disappeared through the gate, Uchiha Mikoto said, "That boy, Mirai, is so much like Mie—his personality and even his looks. Back then, it was because of that lively nature that Father drove Mie out of the Uchiha residential district. He's had such a hard time. Maybe he awakened his Sharingan because he witnessed something, too."
"But regardless, awakening the Sharingan at such a young age proves his talent is beyond question. The Uchiha clan may have a future prodigy on its hands," Uchiha Fugaku said.
Uchiha Mikoto rubbed her belly. "I wonder what Sasuke will be like when he's born."
"If he has even half the talent of Mirai and Itachi, he'll be a fine prodigy," Uchiha Fugaku said. He wasn't worried that Itachi would fail to awaken his Sharingan; with Itachi's talent, that was unthinkable. But after personally teaching him, Fugaku had run out of things to teach him. Itachi learned everything immediately, and once he had the Sharingan, he wouldn't be any weaker than Mirai.
Mirai and Uchiha Itachi reached the entrance to the Uchiha residential district. Mirai told Uchiha Itachi he could head back; Mirai knew the way well and didn't need him to walk him any farther.
Mirai headed home alone, grinning at how much he'd gained. Why was he grinning? A quick visit to the Uchiha Clan had earned him ten Points, improved his combat experience, and gotten him a ninjutsu scroll.
Rich people could spend freely in the shop without a second thought. But he wasn't rich. He had to think twice before spending even a few Points. He had to save wherever he could. That was what being broke was like.
With the ninjutsu scroll tucked under his arm and excitement in his heart, Mirai quickened his pace and soon arrived back at his place.
There was no rush to read the ninjutsu scroll. Mirai decided to check his Mall System first. He opened the System Shop and went straight to the Bloodline Pavilion.
As expected, all the other bloodlines were still locked. Mirai checked from time to time whenever he was home, and he'd found that even the cheapest Kekkei Genkai cost over a hundred System Points—far beyond what he could afford. He could try for one later, but for now, the sooner he got something, the sooner it could become part of his strength.
The transmigrators who came before him had taught everyone that there was no way to reach the top in a single leap. Start by training in a mediocre technique; once you're strong enough, go and seize a better one. Then train in that, and once you're strong enough, go seize something even better. You had to take it one step at a time. Besides, he already had a top-tier Kekkei Genkai, which gave him a much better starting point than those transmigrators before him.
He tapped the Sharingan option again. [Ding! You have successfully activated the Two-Tomoe Sharingan. Ten Points spent!]
Mirai felt another strange energy flow into his eyes. He hurried to the mirror and saw two tomoe in each eye. He was thrilled. For once, the Mall System hadn't ripped him off. He'd thought it might add a tomoe to only one eye, but it seemed this shop had some integrity after all.
Mirai looked back at the System Shop. The [Two-Tomoe Sharingan] option had changed to [Three-Tomoe Sharingan]. Just one more purchase and his ordinary Sharingan could reach its highest level. That was pretty fast. Was the day he ruled the ninja world finally approaching? Mirai couldn't help getting carried away.
Mirai tapped the [Three-Tomoe Sharingan] option. [Ding! Activating the Three-Tomoe Sharingan requires 100 Points. You don't have enough Points. Please try again later!]
Mirai's face went blank again. Had he heard that right? He tapped it once more.
[Ding! Activating the Three-Tomoe Sharingan requires 100 Points. You don't have enough Points. Please try again later!]
Damn! It really was a hundred Points. Both eyes together only had four tomoe instead of six. How could adding two more tomoe cost a hundred Points? Points were so hard to earn these days—you had to risk your life to get them. And a hundred Points was a hundred Points. They wouldn't even haggle. Game shops had holiday sales and daily deals...
In the end, Mirai sighed. "Sigh... I thought my life was finally about to take off. Who knew the Three-Tomoe Sharingan would cost a hundred Points? Does that mean the Mangekyou costs a thousand? Life really is full of highs and lows. It'll be a long time before I can live the awesome life I've been dreaming of."
He should've known. Wood Release cost 5,000 Points. How could the Sharingan, which was just as valuable, be that cheap? Looks like he'd be living the poor life for a long while yet.
Mirai quickly set aside his disappointment. He was a little greedy, but he didn't complain. If he could earn something with his own two hands, he'd never rely on anyone else. He already had a far better starting point than his peers, so what was there to be dissatisfied about? He opened the Martial Arts Pavilion. He still had three Points, and he needed to put them to use and turn them into strength as quickly as possible. After all, there wasn't much time left to complete his main mission.
