Appearance

Amayuri is a young girl with dark-red hair worn in twin buns, loose locks framing her ears, and a brown robe 25.

• Carries an ordinary katana during her first Chūnin Exam match; she does not wield the Lightning Blades at that point 25.
• Later carries a longsword on her back 29.

Personality

Amayuri is proud and blunt. She mocks Shigure during their match, speaks harshly to Kanna when they first meet, and refuses to follow orders from Hayashinaka Clan members 25 29. She nevertheless honors a direct order from her teacher, Murakami Motohiko 29.

Her relationship with Kanna becomes less hostile during their time at the Juvenile Correction Center. She warns him about Hōzuki Mangetsu and trains alongside him under Gotō Shinnosuke 33 36.

Abilities & Skills

Lightning Style

• Releases high-voltage lightning from across her body without hand seals, breaking Shigure’s Water Prison and killing him in a single strike 25 26.
• The attack produces a large discharge, but Kanna observes no significant shape or nature transformation beyond the electricity itself 26.

Swordsmanship

• Chooses Nii-ryū, a two-sword style, when Shinnosuke offers swordsmanship instruction 35.
• Spends several months training and sparring under Shinnosuke alongside Kanna 36.

• Fourth Kirigakure Chūnin Exams: Amayuri chooses Shigure as her opponent and kills him with Lightning Style despite his Water Prison trap. Village leaders consider her conduct incompatible with the exam reforms and her promotion prospects suffer 25 26.
• Juvenile Correction Center: After killing three Chūnin in a confrontation linked to the Hayashinaka Clan, she receives a six-month sentence for excessive self-defense. She and Kanna arrange to extend their stays rather than face further attacks outside 30 32 33.
• Training and later exams: She studies Nii-ryū under Shinnosuke, then enters the later Chūnin Exams as a Pursuer. She declines Kanna’s proposed alliance and proceeds alone 35 36 41 42.
• Final matches: Amayuri kills a team of six examinees during the field test. Fuyuki Sanzenryō subsequently forfeits their arena match, giving her a win without a fight 48 50.

Trivia

• Kanna knows of Amayuri as the eventual second wielder of the Lightning Blades, but the blades still have another wielder when he first sees her 25.
• She is referred to as “Yuli” in the account of Hayashinaka Jūbei’s visit 49.
