Background / History

Shisui is introduced as an Uchiha jonin of exceptional reputation, regarded within both the clan and village as the strongest Uchiha and Konoha's foremost active powerhouse. After Shiraha becomes a chunin and joins the Military Police Force, Shisui becomes captain of his Clan Seventh Squad. The squad also includes the younger Uchiha Itachi. 1 2

He seeks to ease the deepening divide between the Uchiha and Konoha. Shisui unsuccessfully attempts to obtain an audience with the Hokage to explain that the Uchiha were uninvolved in the Nine-Tails incident, then later chooses to mentor Itachi in hopes of cultivating a “gentle and enlightened” future clan head. 5 13

During the pursuit of Orochimaru, Shisui leads Shiraha and Itachi on an S-rank mission. His secrecy about its details creates friction with Shiraha, and his immediate suspicion that Shiraha had abandoned Itachi after the battle with Orochimaru briefly turns hostile. He apologizes once the misunderstanding is resolved. 7 12 13

Afterward, Shisui reports Shiraha's part in severing Orochimaru's right arm to the Third Hokage. His report contributes to the Hokage ordering surveillance of Shiraha, whose rapidly growing strength has become politically significant. 18

Shisui is notably gentle, approachable, and considerate toward his squad. He wakes team members personally rather than tolerating lateness, praises Shiraha's vigilance, and divides mission rewards equally among the team. 2 3

His idealism is paired with political awareness. He recognizes the danger of worsening Uchiha–Konoha relations and invests heavily in Itachi as a potential reformist leader.
