The Three-Legged Golden Crow's Wrath

Hearing this, the three of them breathed a sigh of relief. Choza must be full by now.

"This gathering today was truly enjoyable." After paying the bill, Choza stood up and said to his three students, "We must hold gatherings like this more often in the future!"

Hearing that Choza wanted to do this again, the three of them immediately shook their heads. They would rather die than attend another boring gathering where they just watched someone gorge themselves on food.

"However, whether you get to participate or not depends on passing tomorrow's test." Choza patted his belly. "Anyway, make sure to prepare your ninja gear and such. Meet me at the training ground at nine tomorrow morning. Be sure to be on time~"

With that, Choza dismissed everyone, and there was nothing left to do for the afternoon. No one felt like hanging out to bond, so they simply headed home.

Yashui had a rough idea of the test Choza mentioned. It was likely the famous "Bell Test." The original work described the bell test in great detail; even the three members of Team 7 had nearly failed to graduate because of it.

In a sense, the bell test was the true graduation exam. Only one-third of the students would pass this assessment. Different teachers had different standards for passing based on their individual personalities.

Some jonin judged whether students passed based on their strength; this was the standard for most jonin in Konoha. Others judged based on the students' character, the most famous example being Hatake Kakashi's bell test.

Regardless of the method, Yashui wasn't too worried. As long as he demonstrated formidable strength while showing that his teammates cared for one another, passing shouldn't be a problem.

Back home, Yashui immediately used the Reverse Summoning Technique. With so much time left in the afternoon, it would be a waste not to go and seek guidance on ninjutsu from the Three-Legged Golden Crow.

Yashui formed the seals for the Reverse Summoning Technique. Moments later, he appeared inside the Sun Palace of the Hundred Bird Nest.

The Three-Legged Golden Crow was resting at the time. Hearing a sound within the Sun Palace, he opened one eye to check the situation.

"Yashui, you have free time again?" the Three-Legged Golden Crow asked. Since it was Yashui, he wasn't an outsider, so the Three-Legged Golden Crow didn't mind speaking to him while lying down.

"Yes, Master." Yashui rambled on, "Today, the graduating students at our Ninja Academy were divided into teams. I have two teammates now. One of them is quite strong, so missions should be safe in the future. Oh, by the way, both of my teammates are girls. It seems our class is the only one with two girls."

The Three-Legged Golden Crow listened quietly to everything Yashui said. Only after Yashui finished did he speak, unhurriedly: "You've found your teammates?"

"Yes." Yashui nodded.

"Judging by your tone, it seems you've forgotten everything I told you." The Three-Legged Golden Crow was clearly displeased.

"..." Yashui fell silent. It seemed that during his chatter just now, he had said something the Three-Legged Golden Crow didn't want to hear.

"Think it through clearly before you come to see me again. If you can't figure it out for the rest of your life, I will act as if I never took you on as a disciple." The Three-Legged Golden Crow flapped his wings.

"Poof!" Yashui was sent back to his room.

Yashui didn't know why the Three-Legged Golden Crow was angry. He had just been too excited about interacting with people in this world for the first time, and he had talked about too many things without realizing it. Could it be that the Three-Legged Golden Crow didn't like him talking so much?

On second thought, that didn't seem right. It wasn't the first time Yashui had talked so much to the Three-Legged Golden Crow. On his first day in the Hundred Bird Nest, Yashui had talked to him for an entire day, and back then, the Three-Legged Golden Crow hadn't been annoyed at all—he had even listened with great interest. What on earth happened today that made the Three-Legged Golden Crow act like this?
