Hearing that, the three of them breathed a sigh of relief. Choza should be full by now, right?
"Today's get-together was a lot of fun." Choza paid the bill, then stood up and said to his three students, "We should have more gatherings like this from now on!"
When they heard Choza wanted to do this again, the three immediately shook their heads. They never wanted to attend another boring gathering where they had to watch someone else stuff himself.
"But you'll have to pass tomorrow's test before you can join us again." Choza patted his belly. "Anyway, get your ninja gear and everything ready for tomorrow. Meet me at the training ground at nine in the morning. Be on time!"
With that, Choza dismissed everyone. They had nothing else to do that afternoon, and no one made an effort to get together and bond. They simply went their separate ways home.
Yashui had a rough idea what sort of test Choza meant. It was probably the famous bell test. The original story had described the test in great detail. Team 7's three members had nearly failed to graduate because of it.
In a sense, the bell test was the real graduation exam. Only a third of the students could pass. And since every teacher had a different personality, each had their own criteria for passing the test.
Some jonin judged whether their students passed based on their abilities. Most jonin in Konoha used this method. Others judged their students by their character. Hatake Kakashi's bell test was the most famous example.
Whichever method Choza used, Yashui wasn't too worried. He just needed to show off his strength while also making sure his teammates showed concern for one another. Passing shouldn't be too difficult.
When he got home, Yashui immediately used the Reverse Summoning Technique. With so much time left that afternoon, it would be a shame not to go learn some ninjutsu from the Three-Legged Golden Crow.
Yashui formed the hand seals for the Reverse Summoning Technique. In an instant, he appeared inside the Sun Palace in the Hundred Bird Nest.
The Three-Legged Golden Crow was resting. Hearing a noise inside the Sun Palace, he opened one eye and glanced around.
"Yashui, you have time again?" asked the Three-Legged Golden Crow. Since it was Yashui, he wasn't a stranger, so the Three-Legged Golden Crow didn't mind talking to him while lying down.
"Yeah, Master." Yashui rattled on. "Today, the graduating class at the Ninja Academy got split into teams. I got two teammates. One of them is pretty strong, so our missions should be safe from now on. Oh, and both my teammates are girls. I think we're the only team with two girls."
The Three-Legged Golden Crow listened quietly to everything Yashui had to say. Only after he finished did the Three-Legged Golden Crow speak, unhurriedly. "You found teammates?"
"Yes." Yashui nodded.
"From the way you're talking, it sounds like you've forgotten everything I told you." The Three-Legged Golden Crow was very displeased.
"..." Yashui fell silent. He seemed to have said a few things the Three-Legged Golden Crow didn't want to hear.
"Come back when you've thought it through. If you never figure it out, I'll pretend I never took you as my student." The Three-Legged Golden Crow flapped his wings.
"Bang!" Yashui was back in his room.
Yashui didn't know why the Three-Legged Golden Crow was angry. He was just excited because it was the first time he'd talked so much with people in this world. Before he knew it, he'd told them all kinds of things. Did the Three-Legged Golden Crow dislike him talking too much?
But that didn't seem right. This wasn't the first time Yashui had said so much to the Three-Legged Golden Crow. On his first day in the Hundred Bird Nest, Yashui had talked to him for an entire day. Back then, the Three-Legged Golden Crow hadn't been annoyed at all. He'd even listened with great interest. So what on earth had happened today? Why had the Three-Legged Golden Crow reacted like this?
