Background / History

Original Yashui and the Soul Summoning Technique

Before the possession, Uchiha Yashui was a young survivor of Uchiha heritage who outwardly lived under the Sarutobi name. He held deep resentment toward Konoha's leadership, Uchiha Itachi, and Itachi's younger brother Sasuke, while concealing those feelings behind patience and courtesy toward the Sarutobi household. He was later identified as Uchiha Shisui's younger brother. 2 3 4 13

Yashui deceived the Lord Third with a minor genjutsu and stole access to the Soul Summoning Mutual Defense Technique, believing it would allow him to claim another soul's power as chakra. The technique instead summoned Xu Fengxin into a mental world. Yashui attempted to defeat Xu and take his power, but Xu overpowered him in close combat. 1

The technique caused Xu Fengxin to take control of Yashui's body. The original Yashui's soul was sealed away, though he vowed to return and reclaim his body. 1 2

Adoption, Surveillance, and Early Graduation

Under his adopted identity, Sarutobi Yashui lived in the Lord Third's household and was treated as family. Hiruzen gave him dark sunglasses to conceal his Sharingan, while Danzo ordered Anbu agents to monitor him and, if necessary, seize his eyes. 3 4

Yashui survived repeated Anbu encounters through Sharingan-assisted reactions, copied techniques, taijutsu, and careful evidence removal. Iruka later intervened when an Anbu attempted to expose Yashui's eyes, earning Yashui's gratitude and determination to protect him. 3 8 9

After struggling with hand seals, Yashui used the Sharingan-derived knowledge within his body to rapidly improve. Hundred Bird Nest Training

Unable to control his two-tomoe Sharingan, Yashui used an instinctively remembered Summoning Jutsu to reach the Hundred Bird Nest. After enduring an illusion that lasted 101 years from his perspective, he earned the right to form a contract with the Three-Legged Golden Crow and the birds of the nest. 12 13

The Three-Legged Golden Crow accepted him as its closing disciple and trained him in chakra control, chakra extraction, combat philosophy, and Fire Release. Yashui completed the rice-wine boiling exercises by adapting the Lord Third's cooking advice into a method of rapid chakra output. 14 16 17

His Sharingan remained unstable throughout this period. It activated without his consent, drew on an unknown source of chakra, and triggered a genjutsu trap that suppressed it while unlocking Uchiha Fire Style knowledge. 19 22

Team 12

Following graduation, Yashui was assigned to Team 12 alongside Ogimachi Hachiko and Kaoru Hinoji. During Choza Akimichi's bell test, he repeatedly used deception, substitutions, and temporary alliances to survive against his jonin instructor. 34 36 41 46

Yashui manipulated both Hachiko and Xun during the test, even pretending to discard Hachiko for tactical advantage. He ultimately destroyed the bells after secretly replacing them with stones, preventing any single teammate from claiming victory. Despite this, Choza passed all three students. 43 46 48

The battle left Yashui hospitalized. After his discharge, he resolved to develop a decisive finishing move, believing that such a technique would determine both his combat value and his standing within a squad. 50

Yashui is a young boy with slightly upturned eyes and a conventionally handsome appearance. His body originally wore a blue short-sleeved shirt bearing the Uchiha clan crest. 1

Personality

The original Uchiha Yashui was ambitious, proud, and revenge-driven. He sought power through the Soul Summoning Mutual Defense Technique and intended to avenge the Uchiha Clan by killing Itachi and Konoha's higher-ups. Despite this hatred, he had the patience to live among the Sarutobi Clan without exposing his true intentions. 1 2 4

The consciousness controlling Yashui's body after Chapter 1 is markedly more cautious and pragmatic. He studies opponents, prioritizes survival, and relies on deception when direct strength is insufficient. His strategies against Choza include substitutions, clones, false alliances, and deliberately misleading both enemies and teammates. 3 42 43 46

Despite his ruthlessness in combat, Yashui can be considerate and grateful. He respects Iruka for risking his life, thanks Hachiko for helping him avoid being swindled, and admires Konohamaru's private dedication to training. 9 25 38

Yashui dislikes relying on the Sharingan's convenient but uncontrollable knowledge. He repeatedly chooses difficult training over dependence on his eyes, fearing that easy power will make him complacent. 8 23
