Background / History

The Three-Legged Golden Crow resides in the Sun Palace, the largest palace of the Hundred Bird Nest—a realm of cloud islands inhabited by birds. While humans can stand within the palaces, most of the surrounding cloud islands are insubstantial to them. 28 29

The Hundred Bird Nest historically maintained summoning contracts with the Uchiha Clan. By Yashui's arrival, Uchiha Itachi was said to be the only Uchiha who still summoned its birds, though he had not done so for several years. 13

When Yashui performed an uncontracted Summoning Jutsu, he was led through an illusion lasting 101 subjective years while only one minute passed in reality. The Three-Legged Golden Crow considered Yashui's endurance proof of an unusually strong mind and granted him an audience as his reward. 12

After hearing Yashui's account of the Uchiha Clan's destruction and his restrained attitude toward revenge, the Crow praised his impartiality and unyielding temperament. It then authorized Yashui to form a contract with all birds of the Hundred Bird Nest. 13
