Ch. 121Powerful Enemies on All Sides, the World Will Strikes

Hyuga Hiashi and Shisui Uchiha challenged Third Hiruzen Sarutobi’s conciliatory stance, but news arrived that Sunagakure and Iwagakure had joined Kumogakure’s forces at Konoha’s borders. Shisui learned that the World Will had targeted him, the Uchiha Clan, and Konoha, and he resolved to survive its attempt to crush them.

  • Hyuga Hiashi backed Shisui Uchiha and argued that Konoha needed strength, not concessions, to secure peace.
  • Shisui warned that sacrificing him would only encourage Kumogakure, shifting neutral factions toward Fourth Hokage Minato Namikaze’s position.
  • An Anbu reported to Minato Namikaze that Sunagakure and Iwagakure had also stationed more than a thousand shinobi along the border with Kumogakure.
  • Shisui’s system warned that the World Will had fueled three factions’ attacks and made capturing or killing him and the Uchiha Clan their primary objective.
  • Shisui understood that surviving the World Will’s siege could give him greater power and vowed to rise from the ashes.

Ch. 122Who's the Traitor?

As the Three Great Shinobi Villages threatened Konoha, the neutral faction turned against the Uchiha and demanded that Shisui Uchiha be handed over. After Shisui stopped the Uchiha from attacking Mitokado Homura, Fourth Hokage Minato Namikaze accused Homura of betraying the village.

  • News that the Three Great Shinobi Villages had massed troops at the Land of Fire's borders shifted the neutral faction toward Hiruzen Sarutobi's plan to sacrifice a few people's interests for peace.
  • Utatane Koharu and other attendees blamed Shisui Uchiha and called for the Uchiha Clan to hand him over to Kumogakure.
  • Mitokado Homura insulted Shisui and Fugaku Uchiha, prompting Setsuna Uchiha and more than forty Uchiha elites to rise in anger.
  • Shisui ordered the Uchiha to sit down, and they obeyed before he turned to Minato Namikaze.
  • Minato Namikaze stood and accused Mitokado Homura of betraying the village, shocking the conference attendees.

Ch. 123Evidence

Minato Namikaze presented evidence that the Mito, Utatane, and Shimura Clans had colluded with outside forces to seize the Nine-Tails and undermine Konoha. Shibi Aburame read the letters aloud, and after the accused clans claimed they were forged, Shisui Uchiha revealed that a search had uncovered a communication ring in Shimura Ketsuzo’s bedroom.

  • Minato Namikaze placed a scroll on the dais and accused the Mito, Utatane, and Shimura Clans of treason, presenting it as evidence.
  • Minato asked a neutral party to read the scroll, and Shibi Aburame volunteered.
  • Shibi read letters signed by Shimura Ketsuzo that detailed Minato’s routine and plans to attack Kushina while the clans caused chaos in Konoha.
  • Shimura Ketsuzo, Utatane Koharu, and Mitokado Homura denied the letters were genuine, while Hiruzen Sarutobi remained silent.
  • Itachi Uchiha brought Shisui Uchiha a report, and Shisui revealed that the Military Police had found a communication ring in Shimura Ketsuzo’s bedroom and used it to contact the enemy who had stolen the Nine-Tails.

Ch. 124Securing the Home Front Before Resisting Outside Threats (I)

Shisui exposed Shimura Ketsuzo’s betrayal and revealed that Utatane Koharu and Mitokado Homura were his accomplices. Minato ordered all three detained, while Hiruzen Sarutobi left the meeting, marking the end of his era.

  • Shisui had Itachi activate the ring, showing evidence that Shimura Ketsuzo had met with the enemy.
  • Shisui revealed that he had offered Shimura Ketsuzo a pardon in exchange for a confession, and Minato agreed to exile him if he cooperated.
  • Shimura Ketsuzo accused Utatane Koharu and Mitokado Homura of being his accomplices and presented a Projection Stone recording their secret meetings.
  • Anbu played the footage, confirming the three had plotted together, and Minato ordered them taken into Anbu custody.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi left the meeting, and Shisui reflected on his failures and the ways he had protected Konoha.

Ch. 125To Repel Outside Threats, First Settle Things at Home (II)

After Minato secured Konoha’s decision to fight the invading villages, he mobilized the clans and Shisui promised to join the war. Konan worried about Shisui’s safety after learning that Sunagakure, Kumogakure, and Iwagakure were attacking Konoha, and he promised to return unharmed.

  • Minato thanked Shisui for helping expose Shimura Ketsuzo’s betrayal, while Fugaku and Konan’s ring had helped secure the evidence.
  • Minato planned to mobilize the clans for war, and Fugaku pledged the Uchiha Clan’s support as Shisui offered to fight.
  • The Uchiha, Hyuga, Aburame, and other clans sent shinobi to Minato’s forces, while the Shimura, Utatane, and Mito clans were forced to enlist most of their shinobi as a suicide squad.
  • Konan told Shisui that Nagato had warned her the three villages were attacking Konoha and admitted she was worried about him.
  • Shisui assured Konan that he could escape if necessary and promised to return from the battlefield without a scratch.

Ch. 126Jiraiya Returns (1)

Jiraiya returned to Konoha and was caught peeping into a women’s bathhouse by a Konoha Military Police Force patrol. After revealing his identity as one of the Sannin, he agreed to go with them to headquarters for reeducation.

  • Jiraiya arrived in Konoha and went to a bathhouse, where he peered through a fence and took notes for his novel.
  • Three members of the Konoha Military Police Force caught Jiraiya and prepared to arrest him as a suspected infiltrator.
  • Jiraiya summoned a giant toad and knocked back the patrol when they attacked him.
  • Jiraiya identified himself as the Toad Sage, and the patrol recognized him as the Sannin.
  • The Military Police Force leader insisted that Jiraiya answer for peeping, and Jiraiya agreed to go to headquarters.

Ch. 127Jiraiya Returns (2)

Jiraiya returned to Konoha, helped ease the transfer of power from Hiruzen Sarutobi to Minato Namikaze, and learned that three great villages had invaded the Land of Fire. Konoha sent three forces to meet them, with Shisui Uchiha, Fugaku Uchiha, and Jiraiya taking command while Minato stayed behind to lead the defense.

  • Shisui Uchiha questioned Jiraiya at the Konoha Military Police Force headquarters about killing the Kumogakure envoy, and Jiraiya learned that Minato Namikaze had been involved in the matter.
  • Jiraiya visited Hiruzen Sarutobi and Minato Namikaze, then helped mediate as Hiruzen handed his remaining power to Minato.
  • A week after Jiraiya returned, the daimyo informed Konoha that Kumogakure, Sunagakure, and Iwagakure had invaded the Land of Fire alongside their allied armies.
  • Minato Namikaze divided twelve hundred ninja into three forces, assigning Shisui to the northeastern front, Fugaku Uchiha to the northwestern front, and Jiraiya to the southwestern front.
  • Shisui and Jiraiya persuaded Minato to remain in Konoha and command from the center while recruitment continued.

Ch. 128The Fourth Shinobi World War Begins

Shisui Uchiha led Konoha’s force toward the Land of Fire’s northeastern border to hold off Kumogakure while the other forces targeted weaker enemies. After Muta Aburame spotted an enemy squad, Shisui sent Itachi Uchiha and the Five to scout it and attack if possible, leaving them preparing to depart.

  • Minato Namikaze and Hiruzen Sarutobi saw Shisui Uchiha, Fugaku Uchiha, and Jiraiya leave Konoha with their forces.
  • Muta Aburame reported traces of a Kumogakure squad ten kilometers ahead, and Shisui ordered him to keep tracking it.
  • Shisui explained that he had chosen a weaker force so Fugaku could lead the Uchiha elites and that Konoha would first target Sunagakure and Iwagakure.
  • Shisui ordered Itachi Uchiha to take Kimimaro and the Five to assess the enemy squad and destroy it if they could.
  • Itachi gathered the Five, and they prepared to leave in twenty minutes.

Ch. 129Surprise Attack (1)

Itachi Uchiha and The Five launched a surprise attack on a Kumogakure vanguard camp, aiming to eliminate all its ninja before they could report the location of their main force. Their assault began with an ambush by Tayuya’s Doki and Jirobo, but a Kumogakure ninja counterattacked Jirobo.

  • Kidomaru silently killed the sentries Samo and Jin Mao with his spider silk.
  • Itachi Uchiha and Kidomaru assessed the camp’s roughly twenty Kumogakure ninja and agreed they had to prevent anyone from escaping with information.
  • Sakon and Ukon, Tayuya, and Kimimaro supported Itachi Uchiha’s plan to wipe out the vanguard, while Jirobo joined the group.
  • Tayuya summoned two Doki, which broke through the camp’s wall and attacked the Kumogakure ninja.
  • The Kumogakure ninja used Lightning Release to paralyze and scorch the Doki, but Jirobo trapped several attackers with Earth Release and struck them with a boulder.
  • A Kumogakure ninja charged at Jirobo with a lightning-infused longsword and used Lightning Style: Lightning Blade of Naraka.

Ch. 130Surprise Attack (2)

Jirobo, Tayuya, Sakon, Ukon, and Itachi attacked the Kumogakure camp, using sound genjutsu and coordinated techniques to overwhelm the defenders. The battle ended with one Kumogakure Jonin mortally wounded and four Jonin still standing.

  • Jirobo blocked a Kumogakure ninja’s sword with Earth Style: Earth Shore Return, but a Doki disrupted the attacker’s Lightning Clone as Kumogakure reinforcements surrounded them.
  • Tayuya used her sound-based Demonic Flute Genjutsu to immobilize the Kumogakure ninja and make several weaker fighters see horrific illusions and kill themselves.
  • Five Kumogakure Jonin broke free and attacked, but Sakon and Ukon summoned Rashomon to shield Tayuya and Jirobo from a lightning barrage.
  • Itachi Uchiha sent a flock of crows to conceal his attack and used Genjutsu: Ephemeral as five shuriken converged on one Kumogakure Jonin, leaving him mortally wounded.
  • An enraged Kumogakure Jonin used Lightning Release: False Darkness to tear through the crows and break Itachi’s technique, leaving four Jonin alive.

Ch. 131Lightning Release: Lightning Dream Lightning Man

Itachi Uchiha and his companions were trapped by four Kumogakure Jonin using a lightning barrier, then attacked by their combined Lightning Release technique. Itachi destroyed the lightning cluster aimed at him, but the other three clusters were about to overwhelm his companions.

  • Itachi Uchiha used the Great Fireball Technique to take down one Kumogakure Jonin and joined Tayuya, Jirobo, Sakon, and Ukon.
  • The four remaining Kumogakure Jonin trapped Itachi and his companions inside a lightning barrier, and Doki was badly injured when it struck the barrier.
  • The Kumogakure Jonin used Lightning Release: Lightning Dream Lightning Man, sending four powerful lightning clusters toward the trapped group.
  • Jirobo, Sakon and Ukon, and Tayuya tried to defend themselves, while Itachi used the Great Flame Ball to destroy the lightning cluster aimed at him.
  • Itachi was left exhausted, and the other three lightning clusters were close to overwhelming his companions.

Ch. 132Freak

Kimimaro broke the Lightning Barrier and freed Itachi Uchiha, Tayuya, Sakon and Ukon, and Jirobo. The group replenished their chakra with Jirobo’s snacks before fighting the four Kumogakure ninja, and Sakon and Ukon flew into a rage after one called them freaks.

  • Kimimaro attacked the four Kumogakure ninja with bone bullets, forcing them to abandon the Lightning Barrier and freeing Tayuya’s group.
  • Tayuya kissed Kimimaro, and Itachi Uchiha, Sakon and Ukon, and Jirobo regrouped while Itachi took Soldier Pills.
  • Jirobo offered Itachi Uchiha snacks that rapidly restored chakra, and the others began eating them too.
  • The Kumogakure ninja attacked Kimimaro’s group with lightning techniques and swords, while Kimimaro held off two of them with his bone techniques.
  • Sakon and Ukon attacked from behind, then became enraged when a Kumogakure ninja called them freaks and targeted his vital points.

Ch. 133Parasitic Demon Demolition Technique

Sakon and Ukon used their Parasitic Demon Demolition Technique to kill a Kumogakure ninja, while Kimimaro and Kidomaru helped eliminate the remaining attackers. The last two Kumogakure ninjas were trapped by Kidomaru and chose to die rather than be captured.

  • Sakon and Ukon fused into a Kumogakure ninja, endured his Lightning Release, and devoured him, recovering their strength and healing their injuries.
  • Kimimaro seized a distracted Kumogakure ninja and killed him with a bone spike through the heart.
  • The last two Kumogakure ninjas fled, but Kidomaru caught them in his Spider Bind web.
  • The trapped Kumogakure ninjas chose suicide over capture and used Lightning Release: Thunder Burial on themselves.

Ch. 134The Perverted Kaxiong

Kumogakure commander Kawaii sent his younger brother Kaxiong to search for a missing vanguard unit. The chapter left Kaxiong preparing to carry out the mission after the messenger warned him about Samui, whom Kaxiong openly threatened.

  • A Kumogakure intelligence officer told Kawaii that a vanguard unit of more than twenty men had been missing for three days.
  • Kawaii ordered another unit to search for the missing men and assigned Kaxiong to lead it.
  • A messenger arrived at Kaxiong's tent and found him abusing two captured women, a mother and daughter, who were near death.
  • Kaxiong dismissed the messenger's plea to restrain himself and ordered him to bring more women.
  • The messenger warned Kaxiong that Samui opposed the abuse of women, and Kaxiong threatened her despite the protection of the Eight-Tails Jinchuriki.

Ch. 135Strategic Direction

Shisui heard Itachi Uchiha and The Five report their successful mission against a Kumogakure unit, then considered how to respond to Kumogakure’s larger force. He ordered the northeastern front to avoid a direct battle, scatter when threatened, and attack enemy supply units from behind to delay their advance.

  • Itachi Uchiha and The Five returned with Kumogakure forehead protectors and reported the mission to Shisui.
  • Shisui asked Kidomaru to assess the enemy’s likely response, and Kidomaru predicted Kumogakure would locate them and send its main force.
  • Itachi Uchiha agreed with Kidomaru but urged Shisui to take the initiative because Konoha’s northeastern force was outnumbered.
  • Shisui reminded The Six that their mission was to delay the enemy, not defend their position or fight to the death.
  • Shisui ordered his forces to retreat and scatter when Kumogakure advanced, then attack its supply units from behind when the enemy moved deeper into the Land of Fire.

Ch. 136What Do You Want?

Kumogakure ninja Kaxiong led a massacre in a Land of Fire village and forced his men to assault its captured women. Samui confronted him, but Kaxiong evaded her attack and, after threatening her, declared his intent to assault her.

  • Kaxiong ordered his squad to kill the village's men and elderly and capture the younger women.
  • Kaxiong commanded his ninja to assault the women, then killed one who objected and forced the others to obey.
  • Samui arrived with a Kumogakure squad, saw the villagers' corpses and the assaults, and charged at Kaxiong.
  • Kaxiong dodged Samui's strike and attacked her with barbed fleshy spikes, which Uncle Hada destroyed with Lightning Release: False Darkness.
  • Samui condemned Kaxiong, while he leered at her and threatened her before openly stating he wanted to assault her.

Ch. 137Internal Strife

Kaxiong turned against Samui and her Kumogakure unit, while Shisui, Muta Aburame, and Tokuma Hyuga watched from hiding. After Samui and Hada’s group was nearly defeated, Kaxiong prepared to capture Samui, and Shisui remained curious about Kaxiong’s hidden bloodline ability.

  • Kaxiong ordered his Kumogakure subordinates to attack Samui and Hada’s unit so no witnesses could report his betrayal.
  • Shisui, Muta Aburame, and Tokuma Hyuga observed the fight, while Shisui used his Mangekyō Sharingan to discover Kaxiong’s Body Transformation Technique.
  • Samui and Hada fought back, killing or incapacitating several attackers with lightning-based techniques.
  • Kaxiong’s forces overwhelmed Samui’s companions, leaving only Samui and Hada standing against fewer than ten elite opponents.
  • Kaxiong taunted Samui and expressed his intent to capture and torment her, while Samui vowed not to fall into his hands.

Ch. 138Eight-Tails Chakra

Shisui watched as Kaxiong attacked Samui and waited to see whether Hada’s sealed Eight-Tails chakra would give the battle a turn. Hada unleashed the chakra in a devastating Tailed Beast Bomb, but afterward collapsed, leaving Samui bound and Kaxiong closing in on her.

  • Shisui refused Tokuma Hyuga’s suggestion to intervene because he wanted to watch the battle and had spotted Hada as a potential source of plunderable Eight-Tails chakra.
  • Kaxiong overwhelmed Samui with his flesh-thorn techniques and bound her with a barbed whip after she tried to strike back.
  • Hada released the seal within his body, and an Eight-Tails tentacle crushed three Kumogakure ninja.
  • The tentacle transformed into a Tailed Beast Bomb that killed the remaining Kumogakure elites, then Hada collapsed from wielding the chakra.
  • Kaxiong approached the bound Samui, believing she had no way to escape.

Ch. 139Annihilation

Shisui Uchiha intervened when Kaxiong attacked Samui, immobilized and controlled him, then freed Samui from his restraint. With Samui still under the effects of Kaxiong’s poison, Shisui used genjutsu to subdue her and considered how she might be useful to Kumogakure.

  • Samui was paralyzed by Kaxiong’s whip and lust poison, while Hada lay unable to fight.
  • Shisui Uchiha appeared, sealed Kaxiong’s tenketsu, and used his Mangekyō Sharingan to control him.
  • Kaxiong’s whip fell away, freeing Samui, but the poison’s effects intensified and she clung to Shisui.
  • Tokuma Hyuga dragged Muta Aburame away after misreading Shisui’s predicament, leaving him without help.
  • Shisui killed Hada with a Great Fireball Technique and then used his Sharingan to cast genjutsu on Samui.

Ch. 140Body Control

Shisui killed Kaxiong with Yamata and absorbed his Yang Release bloodline, raising his Asura Bloodline development to 59% and gaining Body Control. After studying how his new ability could help against Kumogakure’s Nintaijutsu, he regrouped with Muta Aburame, Tokuma Hyuga, and Samui and prepared to attack the enemy’s main base.

  • Shisui left Kaxiong in a genjutsu-controlled state and took him to a secluded cave.
  • Shisui used Yamata on Kaxiong, killing him and absorbing his Yang Release bloodline.
  • The system raised Shisui’s Asura Bloodline development to 59% and granted him Body Control, which he chose to develop as finer control over his body.
  • Shisui considered how Body Control might improve his taijutsu against Kumogakure’s Nintaijutsu specialists.
  • Shisui returned to Muta Aburame, dispelled the genjutsu on Tokuma Hyuga and Samui, and ordered the two men to guard Samui as he led them toward the enemy’s main base.
