"Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique."
Shisui opened with the Uchiha Clan's signature jutsu. The difference was, his Great Fireball was almost absurdly huge.
"What the hell is that supposed to be, a Great Fireball?"
Uchiha Inabi stared at the scorching fireball, more than twice his height, flying toward him. A sense of danger gripped him at once.
He wanted to dodge, but his colleagues from the Military Police Force were all around. If an eight-year-old Shisui Uchiha forced him to flee right at the start, he'd never be able to show his face in the Military Police Force again.
So Inabi chose the manliest possible response.
"Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique."
But whether it was the speed of his Hand Seals or the size of his Great Fireball, Inabi was outmatched by Shisui.
The instant the two fireballs collided, Inabi's burst apart. Shisui's Great Fireball kept hurtling toward him.
"No choice. Substitution Technique." With the fireball about to slam into his face, Inabi forgot all about saving face and used the Substitution Technique to avoid the attack.
But Inabi didn't escape unscathed. His tactical vest was scorched black, and he had to rip off the ruined garment and throw it aside.
The Substitution Technique was, at its core, a form of high-speed movement, not a Space-Time Ninjutsu like the Flying Thunder God. Otherwise, it wouldn't be an E-rank jutsu that everyone could learn.
The crowd erupted.
"Deputy Captain Inabi is actually on the back foot?"
"Did I just see that? Shisui Uchiha actually overpowered Captain Inabi head-on?"
"Little Shisui, your big sister will be waiting for you after work."
But Shisui, still on the field, didn't dare let his guard down. He knew Inabi was about to launch a furious counterattack.
"Earth Release: Headhunter Jutsu."
As Shisui Uchiha used his Sharingan to search the training ground for Inabi, a hand suddenly burst from the ground beneath his feet, trying to drag him down into the earth.
But Shisui Uchiha moved just as quickly. He thrust the kunai in his hand toward the hand, forcing his opponent to cancel the jutsu.
No matter how powerful they were, most ninja were still only flesh and blood. They couldn't withstand a blade.
After breaking free, Shisui leaped away to avoid another attack from Inabi underground. Unexpectedly, Inabi's next attack came from above.
"Wind Style: Pressure Damage."
The attack came without warning. Shisui Uchiha seemed completely unprepared. The high-pressure wind sphere struck him in midair, slamming him into the training ground and kicking up a cloud of dust.
"Shisui, are you all right?"
Seeing Shisui Uchiha badly injured, Inabi blamed himself for going too far and hurried toward where Shisui had landed.
"Wait, this is a clone?"
Seeing that the Shisui Uchiha lying on the ground was only a clone, Inabi realized something was wrong.
"Earth Style: Earth Prison Dome."
Shisui Uchiha's voice came from nearby. A ring of earthen walls sprang up around Inabi, quickly forming a sealed prison before he could react and trapping him inside.
"This jutsu can repair itself—and it can absorb my chakra?"
Inside the earth prison, Inabi tried to break through the walls with his samurai sword, only to find that they could repair themselves. He couldn't escape quickly enough to keep up with the damage he was doing.
He could also feel his chakra being steadily absorbed by the earth prison. The rate was slow, but it was feeding the walls and helping them recover.
"Earth Style: Earth Flow Split."
As Inabi poured chakra into the ground beneath his feet, half the floor of the earth prison split down the middle. The severed section rose, creating a difference in height and damaging the prison's structure from within.
"As expected of you, Senior Inabi. You broke through my Earth Prison with just one jutsu."
Inabi found Shisui's praise grating. He was more than a decade older than Shisui, yet here he was, being comforted by a younger opponent.
Furious, Inabi couldn't take it anymore. He gripped his samurai sword and charged at Shisui, intent on testing their Taijutsu against each other—a contest that played right into Shisui's strengths.
"Body Flicker Technique."
They didn't call Shisui Body Flicker for nothing. He easily dodged Inabi's attack with the Body Flicker Technique and even took the chance to circle around behind him.
"Rasengan."
This was an A-rank single-target jutsu the system had rewarded Shisui with.
"Thud."
Shisui's attack struck his opponent, but his expression didn't change. The sensation transmitted through his hand told him the impact didn't feel right.
Sure enough, the Uchiha Inabi he'd hit turned into a figure made of earth, then slumped to the ground.
"Earth Clone?" Shisui's crimson Sharingan stared at the dirt below him. Even with the visual prowess of his Three-Tomoe Sharingan, he couldn't distinguish the real one from the clone.
Suddenly, Shisui sensed danger behind him. At some point, Inabi had already appeared at his back.
"You lose."
Inabi's samurai sword was now pressed against Shisui's neck. With Shisui pinned at such close range, Inabi didn't believe he had any room left to fight back.
But Shisui didn't panic. He even smiled slightly as he spoke to Inabi behind him. "Senior, you're the one who lost."
With that, Shisui vanished into a puff of white smoke.
The Multi-Shadow Clone Technique Shisui had learned from the Scroll of Sealing had come in handy.
"Rasengan."
Another Rasengan came at Inabi from behind. This time, he had no chance to dodge. Shisui's attack was about to hit him.
"If that hits me, I'll really die."
The instincts he'd honed over years of training told Inabi that this blow could kill him, but he no longer had time to defend himself.
But just before the Rasengan in Shisui's hand struck Inabi, Shisui dispelled the jutsu. It left only a shallow, spiral-shaped mark on Inabi's back.
"Hah..."
When Inabi came to his senses, he nearly collapsed to his knees. Cold sweat streamed down his back. The feeling of having just brushed past death shook him to the core.
The crowd outside the training ground had seen it all. Inabi really had lost to Shisui.
"Senior Inabi, let's call it here for today."
As Inabi was about to collapse, Shisui caught him in time and helped him off the field.
"Yes, you won. I admit it. Those eyes of yours can see farther than mine and those of everyone else in the Military Police Force."
