Landen struggled to his feet from the soft sand. The wall had collapsed too quickly just now; unwilling to be crushed by the falling boulders, he could only turn all the surrounding earth and stone into sand.
"I thought an avatar could take down an avatar. Who knew they'd use Magic Weapons?" Landen shook his head and said helplessly, "Good thing Ernst has already reached Legend. Otherwise, the livestock would be digging into an all-you-can-eat buffet by now."
After much difficulty, he reached the outside of the city wall. Before him, Ernst was locked in battle with the White Wolf God's avatar. Though the Legendary Beech was enormous, it was ill-suited to nimble combat. The white wolf darted back and forth around his roots, tearing off a chunk each time it drew close. After only seven or eight passes, the beech was already beginning to lose its footing.
While the white wolf attacked around the beech's base, the rhino and the xichi beast avatars were not merely watching. They took turns leaping at the beech, disrupting its upper body and keeping that enormous vine-club from striking the ground.
"Livestock, take this... take this..."
Halcala circled through the air, wanting to help her Guardian Tree but unable to find a good way to do so. Not only did the rhino and xichi beast completely ignore her, even Ernst did his best to keep her separated from the livestock with his branches.
"Ernst! Stop getting in my way!" the Wood Elf cried out. "Watch me deal with them!"
"Forest Walker, come, come! Let me see what you're truly capable of!" The xichi beast turned and ran into the open clearing, roaring loudly at the Wood Elf as it lured her into attacking.
Yet the beech not only refused to release the Wood
