It was already 11 a.m. Ben, a teacher from the Tenth Magic School, was waiting outside the principal's office. Three minutes earlier, his friend Mike White had gone in.
The principal's office had several exits, so Ben had never seen anyone come out through the wooden door in front of him.
"Night-Kirin City, the Gallop Kingdom... Can I really go there? Just like Milady and the others?"
Ben wanted to press his ear to the door and listen to what was happening inside, but he didn't dare. High-Rank experts could sense what was happening outside even through a wall, so nothing he did would be a secret from the people inside.
"Come in, you outside... Teacher Ben."
A voice sounded in his ear. Ben turned the doorknob and opened the door, only to find everything beyond it completely obscured by a black magical barrier. It was only after stepping through the barrier that he discovered the principal's reception room, which had originally been a hundred square meters in size, had been completely cleared out.
Instead, Magic Arrays covered everything from the floor to the walls and ceiling. Several pale-colored spheres, each about the size of a fist, floated around the room, and magical light continually shone from their hollow centers.
As Ben tried to make out the patterns of the Magic Arrays, he suddenly felt power surge into his body from all around him. It was as if he had an infinite supply of mana.
After taking a moment to adjust, he finally noticed the Knight standing at the very center of the Magic Array. Guessing that this was the legendary lord of Night-Kirin City, Ben asked without thinking, "His Majesty Landen Gallop?"
"It's almost time to eat, so I won't ask you any questions," Landen said, confirming his identity
