Redemption
Sarah·Kerrigan struggled to sit up with her elbows supported. Her tattered Ghost operative simulated environment combat uniform had been replaced by a loose, rough-textured one-piece suit. The several tubes connected to the instruments buried deep in her fiery red hair made her very uncomfortable.
She originally thought she would be strapped to the electric chair, but it seemed that the actual situation was not that bad.
The staff in the operating room spent a few minutes fixing the lights, and soon the operating room, which could only accommodate two beds and some medical instruments, was as bright as ever. Kerrigan's hearing, which was slightly sharper than ordinary people, told her that there were many ventilation ducts connected to fans in the walls, which meant that it was probably underground.
Kerrigan looked at an old man with gray hair and a white coat standing beside the bed, and then focused on Augustus, who had his hands behind his back. Kerrigan could identify his voice. It was this man who had awakened her worst memories in just one sentence, comparable to the whispers of the devil.
However, Augustus's initial impression of Kerrigan was not that bad. He looked quite young, with thick gray eyebrows, deep-set eye sockets, a hawk-like curved nose, and a resolute expression.
"You saved me, and what can I do for you?" Kerrigan looked at Augustus.
Although Kerrigan was able to detect that there were only two unknown and powerful Psionics people in the operating room, she was still aware of some of Augustus's thoughts that stayed on the surface of consciousness through telepathy: friendliness, peace, and curiosity.
An overly powerful Psionics person will uncontrollably read other people's thoughts. Training in this area and the Psionics suppressor can effectively restrain it. However, Kerrigan, who has just removed the suppressor at this moment, obviously cannot control its overly powerful Psionics power and telepathic abilities.
"I need to know what you're good at."
Augustus is wearing a dark gray woolen officer uniform, which is a Revolutionary Army army uniform with a closed style and straight Western-style trousers with trousers, and a sheepskin belt with black copper nails. His cold gray eyes are very attractive, as sharp as an eagle.
". Kill." Kerrigan hesitated, her beautiful eyebrows knitted together in pain. "No, I don't want to kill."
No one taught her anything other than disguise and assassination. Ghost operative is engaged in the cruelest and darkest job among Terran Confederacy. They are the best assassins and the most efficient killing machines.
"I won't let you kill anyone." Augustus's head tilted slightly to the left, as if he was listening to someone next to him.
"The truth is exactly the opposite." He said to Kerrigan very calmly, seemingly without any negative emotions of fear or fear.
"I ask you to save others, liberate the oppressed and their traumatized souls, and maintain justice and order."
"." Kerrigan is confused about this.
"But you are rebels."
"Your memory is gradually recovering, but there are still many cognitions that are wrong." After a few seconds of silence, Augustus said to Kerrigan again.
"In the past, you were serving a dark government. In order to maintain their cruel, absurd, and ridiculous rule, you were forced to do evil for those sitting on the seats of parliament," he said.
"The people in power in Tarsonis use high pressure to rule the people in Terran Confederacy. The companies of Old Families - the descendants of those pioneers and leaders use the colonies as raw material production areas and product dumping grounds, and use heavy taxes to make the hard-working people's lives difficult. To continue. Terran Confederacy won the war with Kel-Morian Combine at the expense of Outer Colonies's future, and now the people who have been tortured by the war have to pay for the consumption of the war. The numerous crimes of the Tarsonis government are too numerous to describe."
"What Revolutionary Army wants to do is to overthrow this corrupt government and the Tarsonis Old Families behind them, defeat their army, smash Terran Confederacy to pieces and rebuild again."
"Now, there is an opportunity to change this fate before you." Augustus got closer to Kerrigan, who was listening carefully.
"You only need to stand beside us and fight side by side with us, and you will understand the darkness hidden under the glorious appearance of the Tarsonis Confederacy government, and understand that we and Korhal IV are walking on an extremely bright road."
"I think you are right." Kerrigan looked at Augustus with her light green eyes hidden under a few locks of fiery red hair. "That's fine, I am already unforgivable. I killed many people. This is an indisputable fact. I still remember the memories of those people clearly."
As more memories gradually recover, Kerrigan becomes more and more sad and desperate. She is burdened with the guilt that makes her conscience condemned. Those self-condemnation and repentance are imposed on herself by Kerrigan, and a real villain obviously does not care about them at all.
Kerrigan became extremely confused. In the past, when she lived as Confederacy Ghost operative, her only goal was to become the assigned task. The Psionics suppressor can turn the most unruly Psionics into the most docile sheep and obedient slave.
Now Kerrigan has gained the freedom she never expected after becoming Ghost operative, but she feels at a loss and afraid about her future life. She doesn't know what to do next.
After all, she had nothing and was despised by others.
"I know it would be great if you can feel that your soul has been redeemed and comforted during this process." Augustus said, "If you have killed a thousand innocent people, then go and save 10 million other people. We can never atone for our past selves, but at least those 10 million people have been saved because of you."
"But aren't you afraid of me? Sir." Kerrigan showed a timid smile to Augustus, which looked like he was forcing a smile from any angle.
After the Psionics suppressor was removed, Kerrigan's calm and strong strong female image has faded. Now she is no longer a cold and ruthless Confederacy Ghost operative, but just a sixteen-year-old girl.
Kerrigan is afraid of getting a definite answer from Augustus.
"The only thing we need to fear is fear itself." Augustus first quoted a famous saying and then said:
"No matter how others look at you, whether they regard you as a monster, an alien, or someone abandoned by fate, in my eyes, you are all a member of the human race. You should not be superior because of your Psionics talents, nor should you be hated by others because of your differences."
"You are Sarah·Kerrigan, and you will always be Sarah·Kerrigan."
"Follow me and stand with me." He said:
"You will no longer be a tool, but a person who lives up to your name."
Now Sarah·Kerrigan seems to have caught a beam of light in the boundless darkness, and the light seems to come from heaven.
She has a new goal.
