Kerrigan: I'm Not the Other Woman
Sarah Kerrigan has always been very perceptive; she can easily hear what others are thinking, and neither wicked women nor cowardly cowards can escape her eyes.
Kerrigan then categorized Lisa Cassidy, the medic of the Heaven's Devils, as an unwelcome member, a group that included only a handful of people such as the instructors at the Ghost Academy and Tychus Finley.
"The time has come, Marshal Augustus." After staring at Lisa and Augustus in their tight embrace for more than two seconds, Kerrigan impatiently tossed her long, fiery red hair tied in a ponytail. She raised one hand and looked down at a non-existent digital watch on her wrist.
"You have an ongoing meeting. The Galaxy Jumper bound for the Fleets will depart at 9 PM," Kerrigan said. "I think you should close your eyes and rest for two hours before the Galaxy Jumper arrive at the transport ship on the back of Mar- Sara."
"Your personal assistant?" Lisa pushed Augustus aside and said in a familiar tone that sounded like something far more than just a subordinate relationship.
"Yes," Kerrigan blurted out before Augustus answer, "In fact, I also bear many more responsibilities than just taking care of his food, clothing, and shelter, such as protecting Marshal Augustus Mengsk's safety and, with the authority of a member of the August National Security Committee, arresting those who approach the Marshal with malicious and unpredictable intentions."
"But I heard she's only sixteen?" Lisa's cleverness lay in not speaking directly to Kerrigan, but instead placing one hand on her hip and looking at Augustus, scrutinizing Augustus with her captivating light blue eyes. As she spoke, Lisa even straightened Augustus's slightly wrinkled collar, her eyes filled with reproach, as if she were reuniting with a husband she hadn't seen for many years due to his military service.
"She has suffered a lot in the past, and now she shoulders too many responsibilities. You should send this child to school so she can have a good university education, shouldn't you?"
Lisa certainly has the right to criticize Kerrigan's age, after all, she is already twenty-seven years old. At this age, she has experienced many ups and downs that Kerrigan has not, and she understands a bit about human relationships.
"I'm curious who you heard this from. The gossip about me has reached Korhal and Umojan?" Although Kerrigan was far more mature and composed than girls her age, she still displayed her characteristic sharpness and queen-like demeanor.
"Captain Lisa Cassidy, I am willing to take on this responsibility and swear to give my all for it, for the rest of my life."
"Life is so long, you can't follow him forever." Lisa then turned to look at Kerrigan. Even though the weather changes, time will pass, but the gloom on Lisa's face appeared in an instant. Lisa's face instantly became dark and gloomy. This medic who once used a laser gun to cut off the hands and feet of enemies in battle was no gentle woman.
"You don't need to worry about that." Kerrigan lips were pressed into a thin line, as if she could blow a cold wind from her mouth.
"I advise you to stop using those foul words and stop making those malicious speculations."
"I didn't say anything." Lisa walked toward Kerrigan, opening the white blouse covering her uniform to reveal the dark gray Revolutionary Army uniform underneath, along with the identification hanging around her neck and the electromagnetic pistol at her waist.
Although Kerrigan was still young, she was already taller than Lisa, and her chest was also more prominent than Lisa's. Between the two of them, the former's presence was undoubtedly stronger.
"But what you're really thinking," Kerrigan retorted sharply to Lisa.
"I'm not some kind of mistress."
"Want to fight?" Lisa gritted her teeth. "I forgot you're a damn Psionics, and you'd better stop with your mind-reading tricks and get out of my head."
"I can make you cry your eyes out right now," Kerrigan defiantly. "Want to try?"
"I will prove that red hair is superior to blonde hair."
Meanwhile, Augustus's trusted lieutenants, Warfield, Harnack, Londerstein, had somehow gathered together, whispering amongst themselves and occasionally glancing at Augustus and the two women beside him, pointing and gossiping.
"He's the boss after all." Harnack said with a smug look, while Warfield and Londerstein beside him had no idea why he was so proud.
"I told you before, when we went to Tarsonis, all the noble ladies and young women there were eager to throw themselves into your arms, and even the men wanted to say a few words to the boss."
"I think you're right." Londerstein, though he didn't say exactly what he thought was right, but he seemed to understand what Harnack was saying.
"When did this happen?" Warfield rarely showed interest in Augustus's private life. To be honest, Warfield had always regarded himself as Augustus's elder. He was a former subordinate of Augustus's Arcturus, and Warfield had helped and taken care of Augustus when they were in the army.
"Who among you knows more?"
"Back in the Confederate Marine Corps, Lisa and the boss were exchanging glances. Nobody knows if they slept together, but I'm pretty sure they did too," Harnack analyzed carefully, concluding, "You all know that the boss lived with Lisa for a while."
"What's the deal with that red-haired woman?" Londerstein care much about Augustus's private life. Although he was one of Augustus's most trusted men, he didn't know more than anyone else.
"She's your relative? I've only ever seen redheads like you."
"Perhaps so, after all, my family only immigrated to Shiloh two generations ago. She's supposedly a former Confederacy Ghost operative who originally went to assassinate Angus, but after being captured by the boss, she switched allegiance to the Revolutionary Army," Harnack said.
"We all think the boss is very bold. He actually immediately hired a Ghost operative who once tried to assassinate his own father. That's not all, he even made her his bodyguard. This is not like the boss's character. He only trusts the Heaven's Devils and a very few other people."
"Of course, that's nothing unusual. You know the boss is young, handsome, rich, and Giant in thought. If he were a rude, fat, hairy, ugly man, there wouldn't be so many problems."
"You've learned quite a few new words, Harnack," Warfield said. "It seems you've picked up their ornate speaking style after spending so much time with Umojan Umojan. They say the Umojan grow up immersed in an ocean of art, and the Umojan you're studying at is located in the music capital of New Austria."
"I think so too. It's great that you think that way, General." After all, Harnack had never known that humility was a rare and valuable quality.
"Listen to me, I've seen this kind of situation far too many times, boss. Believe me, he's definitely not going to have a good ending. Those two women are ruthless, one more ruthless than the other." Harnack then sighed to himself.
"Only when the boss is heartbroken by these women will he realize that we were the ones who were best for him."
"You're right," Londerstein nodded.
"As you all know, Psionics possess superpowers; they can even manipulate objects telekinetically." Harnack was horrified by the future he described. "If those two really fight, it won't be as simple as pulling hair or tearing clothes."
As they were talking, Harnack heard Augustus cough softly. Augustus walked between Kerrigan and Lisa and said to them, "Girls, let's talk about these little things later. Let's each take a step back; I think your conflict is much smaller than you think."
"Calm down, set aside your prejudices, and try to understand each other better. You might just fall in love with each other."
Augustus acted like a leader who had abandoned personal desires. He carried the great mission of overthrowing the Confederacy, so it was impossible for him to be entangled in such personal feelings. Everyone knew that Augustus would not marry, or if he did marry, he would definitely choose a lifelong partner who could assist his cause.
Many nobles of Korhal believe that if Augustus were to overthrow the rule of the Terran Confederacy in the future, he would have to suppress the nobles who survived the massacre, exiling or exterminating them to consolidate his rule in Tarsonis. At the same time, he would win over the remaining Old Families and establish a new ruling class. This is what a true ruler or monarch should do.
Therefore, marrying a female Heir from a Old Families would be the best option for a political marriage.
"I don't need to argue with a little girl." Lisa then displayed the magnanimity of a mature woman.
"I don't understand why you harbor such hostility towards me," Kerrigan ignorance.
"You..." Lisa managed to hold back her curse, "Clearly..."
"Hank, what are you whispering about?" At this moment, Augustus looked at Harnack and the others who were standing beside him whispering, realizing that they were laughing at him.
Upon hearing Augustus speak, Harnack and the others immediately distanced themselves from each other and walked towards Augustus.
Harnack straightened his Revolutionary Army uniform and his spiky rooster-comb hairstyle, and shouted, "We're here for a meeting—the boss said you're in a hurry and have to leave for the Fleets soon!"
Kerrigan and Lisa each backed down, but neither gave the other a friendly look.
"What's going on? I thought you were charming with women." Harnack said in a very low voice as he approached Augustus.
"This is really asking too much, but I will handle it," Augustus said in an even softer voice.
"I think this is no less difficult than terraforming a neutron star." Harnack laughed. "You're too nice to everyone; that's not a good thing."
"Even scum like Tychus and me, you're willing to confide in us."
"Don't underestimate yourself," Augustus said, patting Harnack on the shoulder. "You're more likeable than you think."
Everyone could see that the flamboyant and unruly Harnack was not afraid even when facing the Admiral of the Umojan Protectorate, but in front of Augustus he was like a docile red-necked rooster.
"I've called you here to discuss something." Augustus looked at Warfield, who was walking over, and waved his hand, gesturing for Kerrigan to stand to his right, thus separating her from Lisa.
"After you arrive in Mar- Sara, we will have fourteen battlecruisers, equivalent to a full-strength squadron of the Terran Confederacy Navy. Although we are waiting in ambush, we will not have an absolute advantage against any Terran Confederacy Fleets, unless the enemy is not at full strength."
"We need to develop a more comprehensive operational plan."
"Let's go into the meeting room." Then, Augustus looked at the sullen Lisa: "Lisa, come in and listen too."
"I'd be happy to." Lisa pushed open the conference room door and went in first.
The tense atmosphere at the scene immediately eased.
"When Lisa was in Umojan, you never mentioned her in your letters inquiring about the family and the Korhal immigrants," Harnack Augustus at the opportune moment. "You occasionally asked if I had gotten into trouble, but you never even mentioned a single letter about Cassidy."
"I have indeed forgotten," Augustus said, shrugging.
"This is my fault."
"This isn't your fault," Kerrigan corrected Augustus. "After all, you have so many things to deal with. You are the leader of the Revolutionary Army, and you will ultimately rule this world."
"This girl is also a fan of yours," Harnack laughed heartily. "She idolizes you."
"You also admire Marshal Augustus; in fact, you are the one who admires him the most among all the Heaven's Devils." Kerrigan was not ashamed of Harnack's words.
"You... you're talking nonsense." Harnack blushed. "How could I... shut up, you annoying Psionics."
"In the end, I'm no longer worried about Lisa going back to doing drugs," Augustus a smile to Harnack.
I'm more worried about you causing trouble at the military academy in Umojan. You know, Harnack, when you do stupid things, you lose more than just your own face."
"Aside from a few minor incidents, I've had a fairly good time at the military academy in Umojan. I've also learned to play the cello (Umojan doesn't like synthesized music; this ancient earthly instrument is considered a symbol of elegance), and I'll show you a few tricks later." Harnack wasn't embarrassed at all.
"A minor accident?" Warfield said. "You mean you mistakenly sent a hydrogen-helium rocket into the sky because you misread a word, and if it hadn't been intercepted by the atmospheric defense platform, the superintendent of the Umojan Military Academy would have had to pay with his life?"
"I've thought about it for a long time and I still can't figure it out. Are you illiterate?"
"My God, this is terrifying." Londerstein terrified by something else. "When you're playing, even God will jump down from the sky, grab you by the neck, and kneel down to beg you to stop."
"Alright, alright," Harnack couldn't take it anymore. "Let's start the meeting."
Augustus pushed open the door and entered, only to find his staff officers and military advisors in the meeting hall looking at him.
"What happened?" Augustus looked at them.
"The department monitoring Governor Mar- Sara's communications channels has just confirmed intelligence that Edmond Duke's Alpha Squadron responded to the Governor's distress signal," said Augustus's chief of staff.
"They are the closest Fleets to Mar- Sara; the Fleets are patrolling the other corners of the Koprulu Sector."
