Viktor Kaczynski, the Landmine Expert
Sakai University is undoubtedly a top-tier research university, a gathering place for elites and masters. For more than two hundred years, this university has provided the entire Kel-Morian Combine with a constellation of super elites. To date, the Kel-Morian Combine's most famous scientific giants, world-renowned artists, and most influential political figures have all come from this temple of knowledge located in Jacob City.
Jacob City on the landing site of the colony Mothership Jacob. Located in the birthplace of all Kel-Morian people, it is the political, economic, and cultural center of the entire Kel-Morian Combine. Sakai University stands at the highest point of the city's architectural complex, and together with the headquarters of the Kalanis Transport Guild, the headquarters of the Moria Mining Combine, the Independent Government Residence, the Trade Union Building, and the headquarters of Lars Technology Company, it is known as the most magnificent and artistic building in Jacob City.
From Augustus's perspective, standing inside the university, Sakai University is undoubtedly a magnificent late Gothic architectural complex made of white limestone, bronze steel and stained glass curtain walls. Between the pointed towers are gardens surrounded by greenery, filled with pink and purple flowers and deciduous trees from a distant world, a riot of color and shade.
On the desolate planet Moria, water resources mostly rely on seawater desalination technology and groundwater hidden deep underground. Ordinary people always have to pay a considerable extra expense for daily water use. However, the central park of Sakai University and the nursery covering the entire campus have Fountain that never stop and sprinklers used to remove dust and dirt.
This university, whose history is almost as long as that of the Moria settlement, has undergone two renovations, but its main artistic style remains unchanged from two centuries ago, when the aesthetics of the Moria people were exactly the same as those of the Earth era. Therefore, the intricately carved lines and solemn Gothic doors and vaults are so common.
Outside the low walls of Sakai University, covered in green vines, lies a completely different scene. Within the university town, home to hundreds of thousands of people, are numerous residential communities with upscale buildings, recreational facilities, and research centers. Outside the university town are densely packed buildings, and thousands of flying cars roam the roads and even in space.
The center of Jacob City is similar to that of Tarsonis, the main city, while the surrounding area is a vast industrial complex. Furnaces, towering chimneys, and operating machine factories constitute this industrial world of furnaces and bronze pipes.
As Augustus, dressed in a light blue tracksuit, walked along the path paved with yellow and white pebbles, young men and women carrying books passed by him and his entourage. They all noticed Augustus, along with the stern-faced Revolutionary Army soldiers and the expressionless Agent Kel-Morian behind him.
It was mid-March 2490, with just over two months left until the new graduation season at Sakai University. The graduating students were racking their brains over their research projects in the laboratory, busy dealing with one research task after another from their advisors that seemed to never end.
As Augustus walked, he studied the terrain of the Sakai University, hoping to find inspiration for rebuilding the Korhal University.
Having been in Moria for a week, Augustus spent considerable time cultivating relationships with Moria government officials using hard currency like Ardien Crystal, and had obtained a letter of introduction for the president of Sakai University from the managing director of the Kalanis Transport Guild.
Two days ago, Augustus met with the rector of Sakai University. The robust elder turned out to be a staunch supporter of the Korhal revolution. He believed that the Korhal people's resistance deserved the respect of all Kel-Morian people, while his defeated compatriots only knew how to wallow in the pain of defeat.
So Augustus immediately got the opportunity to give a speech at Sakai University —after all, he had nothing to do while waiting for the Kel-Morian Combine Armory to replenish its first batch of weapons in Moria, and he couldn't very well go out and fool around with Tychus and Harnack.
Currently, Augustus has received approximately 120,000 sets of crimson-painted Kel-Morian Ripper Power Armor and 200,000 Kel-Morian Gauss Rifle. Only 1,500 heavy tanks have been delivered, but the Kel-Morian Combine's Goliath Combat Robot are clearly in large numbers. Within a week, 5,000 Goliath Combat Robot were delivered to the Revolutionary Army Fleets.
Augustus, having successfully spent his entire budget, was now pondering which Confederacy colony to mine or rob next.
At the same time, if the Fleets had to travel through space for an extended period of time, Augustus also had to consider the mental well-being of the crew.
"I can sense that there are some Psionics in this university; they must all be students," Sarah Kerrigan whispered as Augustus walked along the pebbled path through the garden toward a bronze building with a pointed roof.
At this point, only Kerrigan, Faraday, and Vice Admiral Warfield, who was there to visit, accompanied Augustus, while Tychus and the others had long been sent back to the Fleets by Augustus.
"Their family must be extremely wealthy and powerful," Faraday guessed.
Of the three Human Regime, only the Umojan Republic, which has always promoted freedom and democracy, has a better situation for Psionics. However, the Shadow Guard are also known as non-existent warriors and rarely appear in the public eye.
The Psionics in both the Terran Confederacy and the Kel-Morian Combine are in a similar situation; they must undergo inhumane experiments and training to become ruthless killers, with only the children of nobles and guild elites having a chance of escaping unscathed.
The Ghost Program of the Kel-Morian Combine came later than those of the Terran Confederacy and the Umojan Republic, but it invested far more resources in it.
The elite of the Kel-Morian Combine value their own lives and property immensely, and they have a particular fondness for powerful security forces. A Kel-Morian Ghost operative can be used to spy on the business intelligence of competing companies or steal the core secrets and scientific research results of their rivals.
However, gifted Psionics can easily achieve outstanding success in their areas of expertise, as Psionics can expand their cerebral cortex, making their thinking more active.
Mind reading can easily cause Psionics to develop a near-adult mentality at a very young age. Of course, if a Psionics has a latent extreme personality, their degree of extremism will far exceed that of ordinary people.
"Only the children of guild elites and corporate executives have a chance of escaping capture by the Kel-Morian Combine's Psionics laboratories. Besides Moria, they also recruit Psionics from all over the Kel-Morian Combine and even from the Terran Confederacy and the Umojan Republic —their laboratories may be even more vicious and inhumane than those of the Confederacy."
"If I have the ability, I want those Psionics to work for me. I will grant them citizenship and build a city for all the Psionics in Koprulu."
Augustus chatted with his entourage as they walked for more than ten minutes through the beautiful gardens of the Sakai University and into a building with undulating curves and huge windows.
This is a standalone building with exquisite artistic depictions and decorations. The first floor is a lecture hall with a wide vaulted ceiling. Natural sunlight pours down from above through the magnificent arched windows, and the base of the walls is decorated with exquisitely decorated lighting fixtures. The interplay of light and shadow is the art that the designer of this lecture hall intended to emphasize and showcase.
When Augustus, accompanied by his entourage, entered the lecture hall and onto the stage above the audience, thousands of students were already seated below, each carrying books and pens. Meanwhile, many more students were continuously entering, and everyone was required to ensure they were not carrying any weapons before entering.
When Augustus stood on the podium, Kerrigan stood behind the stage, while Faraday led about a platoon of the Marshal's guards, who stood in a row in front of the podium, blocking the view between the Marshal and the students.
The students from Sakai University who came here were informed that Augustus Mengsk, who had recently dealt a heavy blow to the Confederacy Navy's Alpha Squadron, would be giving a speech at their school. This was unusual in Kel-Morian, but it was a tactic used by Terran Confederacy politicians to win over young voters.
On the eve of the Korhal uprising, Angus Mengsk delivered speeches at several prestigious universities.
The people of Kel-Morian know much about Augustus from the negative propaganda about the Revolutionary Army by the official media of the Terran Confederacy. They portrayed Augustus as Satan from hell and called his Revolutionary Army demons.
These words resonated differently with different groups. The Korhal people completely reversed the UNN's report: if Augustus killed hundreds of thousands of innocent locals in Mar- Sara, then he should undoubtedly have saved just as many people.
For the Kel-Morian people, Augustus was more often seen as a fighter for freedom.
After the end of the Guild Wars, the Kel-Morian Combine government signed a humiliating treaty that included reparations, territorial concessions, technology transfers, and the transfer of mining companies. All Kel-Morian people, especially the young, suppressed their anger and called for a new war to reclaim lost territory. Meanwhile, the Kel-Morian Combine government, whose backbone had been broken, had already undergone a major reshuffle.
Defeatism is spreading among the elite and the top echelons. The hawks who once waged war have been ousted from the center of power, and the Combine Board of Directors and their subsequent capital holders no longer believe that they have the resources to fight the Terran Confederacy.
The Kel-Morian Combine once possessed an arrogant business empire, but now it is nothing more than a crippled body ravaged by the Confederacy.
--This is the truth, and any leader who is not blinded by illusions and arrogance should recognize the gap between the Kel-Morian Combine and the Terran Confederacy.
"Before me stands a great nation." Augustus looked at the sea of black heads and countless bright eyes below the stage. He rarely gave speeches, but he was almost self-taught and never needed to bring a prepared speech.
Augustus give speeches in front of a mirror, imagining himself facing thousands of people. His clear thinking and eloquence allowed him to quickly master public speaking. Now, Augustus only lacked inspiring speeches, and for that, he only needed to learn from his predecessors in history.
"As you know, I am Augustus Mengsk, son of Angus Mengsk and Katherine Mengsk, a revolutionary from Korhal, an ascetic who holds the torch of freedom. I am as old as many of you, I have walked through Tarsonis and Mar- Sara, I have seen stars burn and Fleets destroyed."
"Someone told me that the history of the Kel-Morian Combine is as long as that of the Terran Confederacy, and that the Kel-Morian people are braver, more tenacious, more hardworking, and more prosperous Terrans."
From Augustus's perspective, he could not identify himself as a Kel-Morian; he could only deliver his speech as an observer.
"After the four-year war ended, everything changed. The people of the Terran Confederacy are now bullying and trampling on the dignity of the Kel-Morian Combine on the land of the Kel-Morian Combine."
When Augustus's strikingly cold gray eyes swept across the audience, many students dared not look him in the eye, instead lowering their heads to avoid his gaze, creating a black wave of drooping heads in the stands.
"From Andron V to Angrim, from Haigolong to the massive orbital habitation station of Meinhoff, the flag of the Terran Confederacy flew over territories that once belonged to the Kel-Morian Combine, driving out the native Moria. It was like cutting grass from the ground and leaving it to wither in the sun."
Augustus's words resonated with the audience, and some students waving Kel-Morian flags stood up, their sashes draped over their shoulders.
Within the Kel-Morian Combine, there are far more secret organizations and resistance forces opposing the Confederacy than the Kel-Morian Combine government knows. To this day, several legions have declared their secession from the Kel-Morian Combine and continue to fight against Confederacy forces throughout the Koprulu Sector, seeking to reclaim their homeworld.
Augustus spoke for a good ten minutes in the lecture hall. He was adept at using specific gestures to engage the audience, having already learned the gestures of his father, Angus. His tone was neither forceful nor filled with unnecessary pauses. Augustus was not reciting; every word he spoke was clear and concise, ensuring that everyone could clearly understand every word he uttered.
"As a Kel-Morian, one day I should fight to liberate the planets that have been forcibly taken by the Terran Confederacy," Augustus, and thunderous applause erupted in the lecture hall as he uttered the last word.
Judging from the enthusiastic atmosphere, it should have been a successful speech. Of course, it was merely an impromptu performance by Augustus, who was consciously working on developing his abilities in this area.
As Augustus walked toward the podium, many students pushed through the crowd to find him, and some hot-blooded youths even wanted to join the Revolutionary Army. Augustus shook hands with each of them and even signed autographs—which puzzled Augustus a little.
As the crowd surrounding Augustus began to disperse, a somewhat shy-looking young man approached him.
"I am Viktor Kaczynski, Marshal Augustus, and I want to join you," he said.
Viktor Kaczynski, the future renowned leader of the Confederacy Resistance Army, was skilled in flanking maneuvers and adept at using Spider Mine and Widow Mine, earning him the nickname "The Ghostly Kaczynski."
