Calling the Fleets
In September, the gray industrial buildings of Ansadar are bathed in the golden midday sun. To the south of the city, which is as golden as gold, lie iron-gray canyons and rugged, majestic mountains, traces left by the evaporation of the Antiga Sea and geological activity.
Just like leaves, seashells, and other wonders of nature, no two planets in the Koprulu Sector are exactly alike, and the vast expanse of Antiga was once a sacred place for geologists to study the evolution of planets.
However, the current Antiga Prime is no different from Cha Sara and Ma Sara, which were once infected by the Zerg. Deep purple and brown Zerg gelatinous Creep cover ninety percent of its surface, including mountains, rivers, and lakes. The entire planet is covered with tower-like Zerg organic structures, as well as pulsating veins and tendons on the Creep.
The land of Antiga resembled a pot of boiling, deep purple porridge, and only one life form remained on the Creep- covered ground: the Zerg.
The destruction Swarm inflicts on a planet is thorough and indelible; the planets they occupy are left only with desolation and death, where only the Zerg and the creatures they assimilate remain.
More than a thousand transport planes and fighter jets painted in gold and red roared over Ansadar, orders to mobilize troops were relayed from one end of the city to the other, and bright red flags fluttered from one end to the other.
Approximately 50,000 Revolutionary Army clad in red Power Armor are boarding armored hover trains and armored personnel carriers. The white, black, or gold turban badges on their shoulder armor identify them. Tanks, armored vehicles, and mechs roar as they head to the front lines, with all the hover buses used to transport troops.
The Korhal Revolutionary Army has become the fourth formidable armed force after the Terran Confederacy, the Kemorian Kel-Morian Combine, and the Umojan Republic. They are now capable of attacking and conquering a planet instead of acting as a terrorist organization engaging in petty skirmishes on the edge of the sector.
The Terran Confederacy controls its army with noble officers and brainwashed soldiers. What binds the Kel-Morian Guild Guards together is family and honor, while the Revolutionary Army believes that their wars are for salvation.
"In the valley south of Ansadar, there are at least twenty-two primary nests, twelve secondary nests, and three tertiary nests, with thousands of structures corrupted by the Zerg and their organic biological medium."
In an armored command vehicle speeding along the Ansadar Highway, Augustus sat in front of a control panel displaying command system data, with Sarah Kerrigan sitting next to him, reporting to him.
"Once we destroy the main hive, the Swarm will have no way to hatch any more Zerg," Augustus. "Every city we recapture, we'll burn it all in flames. If we can hold Antiga for a while, the Confederacy's act of abandoning outlying planets without resistance will be despised by everyone."
Most importantly, the Augustus must find a way out of the deadly cycle of Zerg invasion of a planet – rescue – Protoss destruction. Humanity cannot negotiate with the Overmind Swarm; the best known option is to unite with the more powerful Protoss to eliminate the Zerg invading human star systems.
"Breaking news: the Confederacy has just lost Char, Sedis, and Noris. They surrendered the lands they gained during the Great Colonial Era Guild Wars with little resistance," Kerrigan said.
"The Char Confederacy shouldn't have lost it; they'll soon regret it," Augustus. "The Confederacy's Fleets, no matter how large, is still limited. They can only concentrate their forces to defend the most important planets or strategically located hub systems. Some planets have only a few towns with fewer than ten thousand people, while others have large populations but are located at the center of the Zerg invasion."
"Despite its cruelty, and despite the fact that the Terran Confederacy, based on a system of human civilization, always emphasizes the pricelessness of human life, it is always trampled upon without restraint," he lamented.
"Every planet has a price tag in the eyes of the Terran Confederacy Council. Those remote, resource-poor, and difficult-to-control planets are naturally abandoned, while the important core worlds must be protected by Fleets."
"It's realistic," Kerrigan said. "Because they can't defend that many planets."
"But those who were abandoned won't think that way." Augustus shook his head. "The Confederacy is right; the dead won't point fingers at them anymore."
At present, even worlds like Tarsonis have heard rumors of the rebels taking advantage of the Zerg invasion to capture Antiga. Amidst the Confederacy's overwhelming propaganda, the threat of the rebels seems to be a more concerning issue than the alien invasion.
Mainstream media outlets generally believe that Augustus's Korhal Revolutionary Army will flee Antiga after "looting" the planet, because logically, the war between the Protoss and the Zerg would soon turn a vibrant, habitable planet into one of the most unremarkable rocky planets in the universe.
The news of the successive fall of the Edge World was quickly overshadowed by all sorts of trivial political and tabloid news. Even so, the Terran Confederacy continued to use various methods to cover up the fact that it had abandoned its colonies and emphasized the threat posed by the rebels and their "alien allies."
Two years after the end of the Guild Wars, the Terran Confederacy once again entered a state of war mobilization. This helped the Confederacy to continue strengthening its military power, but the people's discontent did not diminish in the slightest with the arrival of the aliens. With the Korhal Revolutionary Army as an example, rebellions in various places only increased.
The command vehicle sped across the highway, passing through a section of the demolished defensive wall and heading towards the outskirts of Ansadar. Revolutionary Army troop transport Armored Vehicle were advancing along the highway, and hover trains filled with hover soldiers were passing through villages that were already deserted.
"The two Sara Vanguard Infantry Divisions led by Governor Pulaier have moved out of the Psi Disrupter's range, and they've detected multiple distinct Zerg heat signatures across the vast Ansadar Plains," Kerrigan, staring at the other control panel.
Within the Revolutionary Army's command structure, Augustus and others often referred to Governor Pulaier, who had recently joined the Revolutionary Army, as "Governor Mar- Sara," because he was likely the last and only surviving Confederacy governor of Mar- Sara.
The forces led by Governor Ma Sara were mainly composed of the Sara System's inhabitants, who were filled with rage over the destruction of their homeland. They were eager for revenge, wanting to offer the blood and heads of the Zerg to the now desolate Sara System.
Augustus turned to look out the observation window at the city receding into the distance and the mountains approaching from afar. "I have already warned the governor not to venture too far alone, because the main force of this attack is the Protoss, not us."
As soon as the words were spoken, with a slight buzzing sound, hundreds and thousands of black, distorted spacetime rifts appeared in a wide Red Plateau in the distance, like black holes devouring light and energy vortices colliding with each other.
About half a minute later, the first enormous, suspended blue-purple Pylon appeared from the surging spacetime rift. Then, as if a scene from a painting had become reality, as if an Atlantis city submerged by the ocean had risen from the icy blue sea, the illusory mirage suddenly became a clear, tangible reality:
The Protoss's architectural complex warped from their homeworld Aiur to the location of the miniature beacon on Antiga Prime. One after another, magnificent gold and blue buildings suddenly appeared to the west of the Ansadar City, accompanied by the spreading aura.
Those enchanting and elegant Protoss buildings are cast from a special metal, seamlessly integrated without any trace of welding, as if they were meant to be this way before they even appeared on Earth, cast by the universe itself rather than by any living beings. Each magnificent and beautiful Protoss building should be the work of a genius Protoss architect, a Michelangelo among humankind.
The magnificent and splendid architectural style, along with the radiant gold of the Protoss buildings, illuminated the sky in the same color, while the unfolding Protoss Kydarin Crystal Matrix was filled with pure blue energy.
"What's going on? What are the Protoss up to now? Those glittering 'pyramids' are blinding me!" The Revolutionary Army commanders' exclamations immediately echoed through the Augustus command channel. Tychus's gruff voice and Harnack's shrill voice stood out amidst a series of calls, reports, and inquiries:
"These are much prettier than the ones in Taldarim; they're like the sandcastle I built on the beach of Tyrador IX."
"Shut up, Tychus, carry out your mission. We need you to hold the right flank of the First Guard Division," Augustus.
"Okay. I'll definitely wear sunglasses next time." Tychus started rambling as soon as he entered the battlefield. "Hey kid, you have a pair, ah~ they're mine now."
"I am Londerstein. The Protoss are deploying ground forces to the surface of Antiga Prime in a way never seen before, and I will continue to monitor them."
"This is Jim. Thank goodness, the Protoss have finally arrived. I really should treat them to drinks after this battle is over-"
"Continue with your original mission." Augustus stood up from his seat, leaning on the chair as he looked through the observation window at the suddenly appearing Protoss city.
"Let's see what Tassadar's forces can do."
At this moment, the Protoss complex in the distance, where warp-fighting had taken place, became increasingly clear in Augustus's eyes. The light generated during the initial warp-fight had faded, and the humming sound produced by the harmonious resonance of countless crystals resembled the soft clatter of ice crystals, the babbling of a mountain stream, and some kind of harmonious, naturally formed musical melody.
On these magnificent gold and blue buildings, one can see rotating spacetime rifts, with blue dazzling lights resembling flowing air currents and storms.
Clad in golden armor, Protoss Expeditionary Force Templar Knights from the magnificent and elegant building. Accompanying these towering Protoss warriors were pure golden "giant Armored Vehicle." These Protoss vehicles, slowly moving across the ground, were composed of layers upon layers of curved, smooth golden armor plates, resembling a golden cocoon.
Thousands of spider-shaped walking mechs emerged from the gleaming Gateway, this golden Protoss army appearing as if from the City of the Sun, their armor and suits seemingly forged from gold and sunlight.
In the sky, one Protoss warship after another emerged from the cloaking force field. The slender and elegant Protoss rod-shaped and needle-shaped fighters, like open fans, chased after the remaining flying creatures of the Garm Brood, streaking across Antiga's featureless bluish-gray sky.
Human fighters could also be seen among these Protoss fighters. Although Tassadar did not fully understand the meaning of Augustus's so-called first military exercise between the Human Revolutionary Army and the Protoss Expeditionary Force, the magnanimous Protoss leader still agreed.
"This is the Protoss army—it's the first time I've seen so many regular Protoss troops. They look similar to the Tal'darim, but they are very different in many ways," Kerrigan Augustus.
"Even from this distance, I can feel the powerful energy contained within those Protoss structures and Protoss warriors." She entered a state of perception similar to meditation.
"Every Protoss warrior—or what they call Templar Knights— is an extremely powerful Psionics. Some of the Templar Knights, in my perception, are like moving Psionic Storm."
"The Protoss are a race that is sensitive to Psionics and has a very long lifespan; a human lifespan is not too long for them," Augustus.
From the moment the Protoss army appeared, they moved to the relatively vulnerable right flank of the Revolutionary Army. After this combined force had marched two hundred miles, a group of active volcanoes in the southern continental plate of Antiga came into Augustus's view.
There dwell millions of Zerg and their towering structures, the entire mountain range transformed into interconnected giant nests, burying countless eggs and larvae, while the adult Zerg of the Garm Brood faithfully guard their nests.
As the Zerg moved rapidly, the creaking and groaning of their carapaces grew more and more frequent, causing the rocks to tremble. The frenzied Zerg surged out of their underground nests, roaring as they tried to tear apart any enemies that dared to attack them.
The Revolutionary Army quickly deployed across the rugged terrain in front of the Zerg hive, while the Protoss Expeditionary Force stood in their way.
The Protoss ' pride wouldn't allow them to lag behind the lower races they should be protecting, nor would they deign to share the glory of victory with humanity.
Through the observation window of the command vehicle Augustus could only see the Arclite Siege Tank erected in front of him, unable to get a panoramic view of the entire battlefield. Instead, he could only see the images transmitted by Scout and rapidly moving troops.
Augustus paced back and forth in the command vehicle, issuing the order before tapping his foot once more. Now that the Zerg Fleets had been defeated by the Tassadar Protoss Expeditionary Force, both Terrans and Protoss could carry out orbital bombardment with impunity.
"Calling the Fleets," he said.
"Launch all our missiles and nuclear warheads and tell Warfield not to hold back on ammunition."
