"Tell the other armored personnel carriers to slow down and stop." As he spoke to Raynor, Augustus hit the brakes, bringing the heavy APC to a halt amid a shrill screech of metal. "No one is allowed to fire unless I give the order."
"No one is allowed to fire unless Sergeant Augustus gives the order," Raynor repeated over the comm channel.
"You don't have to repeat it word for word." Augustus pulled the handbrake and looked at Raynor beside him. "You're the commander."
"Everyone in this platoon knows who comes up with the plans. If I were in command, I'd only know how to charge ahead." Raynor spread his hands.
"All right, you said it." Augustus stepped out of the vehicle, shut the door, and spoke over the platoon-wide channel. "This is Sergeant Augustus. Orders: dismount and form a single-file column. My 1st Squad takes the lead. 2nd Squad follows directly behind 1st Squad. 3rd and 4th Squads take the left rear and right rear respectively."
At that moment, the APCs behind them came to a steady stop behind Augustus amid piercing brakes. The dozen or so Haigolong Legion soldiers they had spotted earlier had clearly noticed Augustus and were rapidly approaching, shouting something at the top of their lungs. Still, they remained restrained and had not yet opened fire.
"Once I give the order to fire, 1st and 2nd Squads will advance with me. 3rd Squad will attack from the left flank. Your target is the enemy mortars. 4th Squad takes the right flank. Your target is the two anti-air missile towers on the right side of the landing platform. Clear the way for any airborne troops that may arrive and secure the landing zone," Augustus said.
