The dark depths of space surrounding Atrias were littered with the remnants of starships exchanging fire. The enormous wrecks of capital ships stood like tombstones marking the battlefield, while countless fragments circled them like planetary rings, gleaming with a cold, sinister sheen beneath the starlight.

The guns of some half-sunken warships still spat brilliant flashes, while others silently drifted toward their final destruction. Both sides had lost dozens of warships, either sunk or rendered unable to rejoin the coming battle, but with losses being roughly equal, this clearly favored the Terran Empire fleet.

Terran Empire warships had been upgrading at a breakneck pace every two or three years, and their rapidly expanding military strength had caught the overconfident Tal'darim off guard.

And now, the Tal'darim were about to lose. They were retreating in disarray! Otherwise, they would all be buried in this battlefield beneath the stars.

After abandoning more than fifty carriers and destroyers too heavily damaged to jump alongside the flagship, the Tal'darim mothership was the first to open a hyperspace rift, with the remaining warships hastily following behind.

At this point, any Imperial fleet commander capable of swiftly and accurately grasping the battlefield situation would have ordered the pursuit to continue.

The battle that followed could no longer be called an even clash between two fleets. It had become the slaughter of individual Tal'darim warships by Terran Empire battle groups holding superiority across multiple local engagements. The Tal'darim still fighting understood that they were merely making a desperate last stand.

As time passed, Tal'darim warships besieged by Imperial vessels numbering several times, even ten times, their own strength were sunk one after another beneath savage bombardment, turning into beautiful metallic debris adrift in space.
