This was a vast, breathtakingly magnificent temple. Monumental hexagonal pillars supported its solemn dome, their perfect lines soaring into the heavens and radiating a soft green glow, creating an otherworldly sense of mystery and power.
Passing through the forest of stone pillars and across the endless corridors, splendid altars stretched ahead along the ancient walls on either side. The enormous open stairways were adorned with exquisite carvings. Every detail seemed meticulously fashioned to perfection—flawless and seamless, as if all beauty in the world were merely an intentional imitation of this place.
Looking up, the towering dome resembled a vast net held aloft, woven from slender support columns and enormous crystals that shimmered with a faint blue light.
But when Augustus actually stepped into the Hall of Ascension, he could clearly sense the bleak stench of death permeating it.
In stark contrast to that beauty were the traces of destruction scattered throughout the Hall of Ascension.
At Augustus's feet, collapsed pillars had shattered into jagged, serrated chunks of stone. Crystal fragments lay scattered across the enormous passageways, sparkling like grains of sand beneath the sun. Countless shrine relics worthy of being called works of art had been smashed and discarded like trash.
It was no less than setting fire to humanity's greatest halls of art and reducing every treasure within to ashes.

Even Augustus, who was not particularly sensitive to Psionics, could tell that something was wrong. There was even less need to mention Protoss like Artanis and Zeratul.
Overwhelmed by shock, Artanis even broke away from the group. Alone, he moved among the collapsed statues and pillars of the Hall of Ascension by the light of the psionic blade in his hand, searching for proof that the Xel'Naga had once existed here.
