Before witnessing the scene before them, Knox Squad had always been operating under a misconception. Only now did they realize that Zerg trap units did not have to exist inside passageways, nor did they have to parasitize any particular material.

The enormous energy hub contained metal, but it was certainly different from the cheap stuff used for ship bulkheads. It also contained materials resembling ceramics and plastic.

Yet the Zerg traps could corrode all of it and nest upon it. Moreover, the Zerg seemed to have a considerable understanding of their technology, having actually avoided the vital sections.

Although the energy hub was "covered" in Tentacle Traps, the machine's normal operation had not been affected in the slightest.

At this moment, the Zerg traps had not activated their mimicry systems. Instead, they swayed their tentacles from side to side like seaweed. Though they made no sound, anyone could see the provocation dripping from their movements.

"Captain, what do we do?"

Faced with the Team Members' questions, Knox was at a loss as well. The meaning of those things was obvious: naked coercion and threats. They had parasitized the critical energy hub. Unless they intended to bury the energy hub along with them, their long-range attacks were basically useless.

As for clearing them out at close range, their attacks were simply too powerful. Trading one or two units was manageable, but there were too many of them. They simply could not afford that exchange.

It was not that those remotely controlled robots were particularly precious. It was that no one had expected the war to develop into its current state, so they had made no preparations for it.

Besides, the fact that those things had parasitized the energy hub made it look like a conspiracy no matter how they saw it.
