Asura Bloodline

Today was Nawaki's first birthday. Since the tiny body concealed the soul of an adult, he had seemed unusually mature from the time he was born, unlike an ordinary baby. He had learned to speak when he was just a month old, and soon after, he learned to walk.

Although people tended to mature early in this superpowered world, where chakra and Natural Energy were everywhere, an ordinary baby still needed at least five or six months to learn to walk. As for speaking fluently... Even among the Nara Clan, renowned for their intelligence, the fastest learner on record had needed ten months to say a few simple words.

To his grandmother, Mito Uzumaki, Nawaki's astonishing progress was because his physical and spiritual energy were naturally far beyond those of ordinary people. She believed Nawaki would become a great ninja when he grew up, because spiritual and physical energy formed the foundation of chakra, and Nawaki was sure to have an enormous chakra supply.

Mito Uzumaki kept her discovery to herself. The Senju Clan members merely thought their young clan leader was bright and healthy, and more precocious than other children. There was nothing strange about it.

There were plenty of geniuses in this world. For example, Nawaki's older sister Tsunade had graduated from the Ninja Academy and become a Genin at six. Her strength far exceeded that of ordinary people, and now, at only eleven, she already had the abilities of an elite jonin. By comparison, Nawaki's performance seemed perfectly normal. If they went around proclaiming him a genius just because he was unusually capable, the villagers would only think the Senju Clan had gone crazy trying to rise again after losing two generations of Hokage, pinning their hopes on a newborn baby and making themselves a laughingstock.

The Senju Clan and the Uzumaki Clan were close relatives. Both clans were descendants of Asura, the son of the Sage of Six Paths, and had inherited his Yang Release Kekkei Genkai. That was why members of both clans had powerful physical energy and great talent for Yang Release.

However, the two clans' physical energy had different strengths, and manifested in different ways. The Senju Clan's Yang Release talent gave them an advantage in cellular activity and recovery, which was why the First Hokage could quickly heal his injuries and use Wood Release, which was rich in life force.

The Uzumaki Clan's Yang Release talent leaned more toward cellular toughness and life energy. Their abundant life energy made them exceptionally long-lived, and they had enormous chakra reserves. Their cells were also far tougher than those of ordinary people, which made them skilled in Sealing Jutsu. They could even seal the Nine-Tails inside themselves and become Jinchuriki!

Though the bloodlines of the two clans seemed much the same, with their powerful life force and vast chakra reserves, each had different strengths!

Nawaki and his sister Tsunade had blood from both clans, but neither could fully bring out the strengths of each one. Combined, their abilities were rather mediocre.

Take Tsunade, for example. She had inherited the Senju Clan's Yang Release talent, which made her skilled in Medical Ninjutsu and allowed her to achieve astonishing feats, including creating the Strength of a Hundred Technique. It let her rapidly heal her injuries, but she couldn't sustain it for long. Her cellular activity and recovery were nowhere near the First Hokage's, let alone his ability to imbue chakra with life force and create Wood Release.

Thanks to the Uzumaki Clan's Yang Release talent, Tsunade also had a tremendous amount of chakra. Otherwise, she couldn't have graduated at six and become a Genin, reached jonin rank at eleven, and earned the title of Sannin in her twenties, attaining Kage Level strength.

Her body was also exceptionally tough. That was clear from how she could use the Strength Enhancement Technique and Heavenly Foot to split mountains, often shattering the ground beneath her. Without strong cells, her hands would have been ruined long ago. Her disciple Sakura, after all, had to wear specially made gloves to keep from injuring herself when using the Strength Enhancement Technique.

And yet, even so, Tsunade couldn't use Sealing Jutsu or become a Jinchuriki! She was Mito Uzumaki's own granddaughter, but she didn't know advanced Sealing Jutsu, and despite her jonin-level strength, she couldn't become the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki!

The second Nine-Tails Jinchuriki, Kushina Uzumaki, was not only skilled in all kinds of Sealing Jutsu, but was still a student who hadn't graduated from the Ninja Academy when she became a Jinchuriki!

Kushina was an orphan of war, and her blood relationship to Mito Uzumaki was probably quite close—they were at most members of the same clan. Even so, she was far more distantly related than Tsunade, Mito's own granddaughter. If Kushina could inherit Mito's Sealing Jutsu, why couldn't Tsunade?

In the original story, Kushina became a Jinchuriki because Konoha needed to prepare for the coming Second Shinobi World War and maintain the balance of power with the other villages. With Mito nearing the end of her life, they specifically brought in the young Kushina to become the Jinchuriki. If Tsunade, who already had the strength of an elite jonin, could have become the Jinchuriki, would Konoha have chosen a weak outsider from another village to host the Nine-Tails? In fact, Kushina never went to the battlefield or fulfilled the duties of a Jinchuriki. Because she was weak, Konoha had to protect her instead.

The reason for all this was that Tsunade's Uzumaki bloodline was too impure, leaving her with less cellular toughness and less chakra than Kushina. That was why she couldn't use advanced Sealing Jutsu or become the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki.

In short, although Tsunade had inherited the bloodlines of both the Senju Clan and the Uzumaki Clan, her impure heritage kept her from fully bringing out their strengths. She could only use weaker versions of the two bloodlines' abilities, which made her seem rather mediocre.

As for Nawaki... Given his original identity and circumstances, he had trained hard for twelve years and was still only a Genin, then ended up dying in an Explosive Tag trap. By any measure, he had mediocre talent—he was even worse than Tsunade.

But the Nawaki of today was completely different from his original self. He was a transmigrator, a transmigrator with a cheat, a man who had created his own system.

Although Nawaki had the Asura Bloodline, he couldn't fuse Water Release and Earth Release chakra into Wood Release chakra and use Wood Release techniques in a short time unless he obtained the cells of his grandfather, the First Hokage, Hashirama Senju. Wood Release was a chakra-nature Kekkei Genkai that Hashirama Senju had created after obtaining Asura Chakra, and Asura himself couldn't use Wood Release either. The Asura Bloodline was only a prerequisite for learning it. To use Wood Release, Nawaki would have to train for a long time, learn to control the ratio of Earth Release to Water Release chakra, fuse them into Wood Release chakra, and get his body and cells accustomed to and able to contain it. Only then could he create the Wood Release Kekkei Genkai.
