Background / History

Nawaki was born on August 9 in Konoha’s twentieth year as the only male direct descendant of the Senju Clan. His father had died on a mission before his birth, while his mother died giving birth to him; his remaining close family were his older sister Tsunade and grandmother Mito Uzumaki. As the young clan head, he inherited the Senju Clan’s expectations and the burden of restoring its declining bloodline. 1

Before his birth, he was Shen Shu, an aging shut-in from Earth who had been watching Naruto while examining a seed-shaped wooden carving. Reincarnated into the body of the canonically ill-fated Nawaki, he retained knowledge of the future—including the fact that the original Nawaki would die at twelve in the Second Shinobi World War. His immediate goal became gaining enough power to survive rather than accepting that fate. 1

He discovered the Seed of the Divine Tree within himself and built the Wish Power System to track Reputation, Wish Power, and his own attributes. Mito and Tsunade’s affection provided him with Wish Power daily, giving him an early resource base for unlocking techniques and fusing bloodlines. 1

After formally becoming a Jonin, Nawaki took full authority of the Senju Clan from Mito and became a member of Konoha’s leadership as the Third Hokage’s personal disciple. He used bloodline fusion, branch-family recruitment, commercial expansion, and intermarriage policies to return the Senju Clan to prominence. 92 94 99

Following Mito’s death, Nawaki secretly integrated Madara’s Rinnegan into his left eye, but concealed both his ocular powers and many of his strongest techniques to avoid alerting Black Zetsu and destabilizing Konoha. 309
