In September of Konoha Year 46, Kumogakure's troop movements suddenly became frequent, and large quantities of supplies were gathered at the border.

Konoha's high command received the intelligence Nawaki had sent back and made preparations in advance, dispatching a full 150,000 Shinobi Army troops to the northern border.

Konoha's total military strength stood at 600,000. The western front had taken 200,000, and now another 150,000 were sent north, leaving 250,000 at headquarters for any emergency.

After taking Nawaki's advice into consideration, headquarters appointed Tsunade as commander-in-chief of the northern army. Dan and Jiraiya, two Kage-level powerhouses, would assist as senior commanders, while Minato Namikaze would participate in the war as an ordinary soldier.

This lineup was already exceedingly impressive. Tsunade and Jiraiya had both served as senior commanders during the Second Shinobi World War, and both were skilled in Summoning Techniques, making them strategic forces on the battlefield no less valuable than Tailed Beast Jinchuriki. Dan and Minato possessed mobility far beyond that of ordinary Kage-level powerhouses, making them the ideal choices for dealing with top-tier combatants. The four of them complemented one another perfectly.

Konoha was not making a mountain out of a molehill by deploying such a lineup. Kumogakure was the second-largest ninja village after Konoha, with a total force nearing 200,000.
