After Naruto effortlessly neutralized the attack Kazahana Dōtō had unleashed in anger, Dōtō quickly calmed down. Anyone capable of usurping a daimyō's seat was no impulsive fool, and the situation gave him no room to lose his temper. Though he wanted nothing more than to tear Naruto to pieces, reason told him that anger was useless now. Resolving the crisis before him was what mattered.
Kazahana Dōtō asked, "What would it take for you to stop opposing me? Tell me. As long as it's within my power, I'll do it."
Naruto smiled. "Well, we could stop opposing you. You just have to return the position that rightfully belongs to Koyuki, then help her govern the Land of Snow. Do that, and I promise we won't stand against you. How about it?"
The smile that had appeared on Kazahana Dōtō's face when Naruto said it was possible vanished completely as he heard the rest. He sneered. "Heh. Not only do you want me to hand over everything I spent more than a decade patiently working for, you want me to serve Koyuki too? Hahaha! Aren't you being a little too naive? Impossible. Anything but that. That is out of the question."
By then, Kakashi and the others had defeated all the Snow Ninja and joined Naruto. Seeing how quickly they had dealt with every one of his subordinates only deepened Dōtō's fury, but he could only bury it. Anger would solve nothing.
Naruto smiled. "That's a shame. Still, I have a suggestion, if you're willing to hear it."
Kazahana Dōtō asked in confusion, "What suggestion? Go on."
Naruto said, "You and I fight. If you win, we'll let you leave and stop opposing you. We'll even have Koyuki hand over the Land of Snow's secret treasure. How does that sound?"
