Princess Tamahime swept her hand, scattering waves of purification power that instantly cleansed every last tentacle away.
Seizing the chance, Princess Tamahime took Shion and hurried away, running toward the cave entrance.
They had barely left the cave when a series of thunderous crashes sounded behind them as the mountain collapsed. Holding Shion, Princess Tamahime used the Body Flicker Technique to escape. Once she had put some distance between them, she looked back. The enormous mountain had been razed to the ground, and in its place stood a gigantic monster, its entire body a deep, ghostly blue.
The monster was covered in the heads of all sorts of creatures. Its body also bore parts from various monsters, as though it had been pieced together from countless different beasts.
While Princess Tamahime and Shion were still staring in shock at Chimera's appearance, he completely broke free of the seal's restraints. Chimera threw back his head and let out a long roar, venting the loneliness and pain of the endless years he had spent sealed away.
That roar snapped Princess Tamahime and Shion out of the daze his terrifying appearance had left them in.
Coming to her senses, Princess Tamahime saw Chimera turn his gaze toward them. This is bad. She hurriedly raised a barrier around herself and Shion. At the same time, Chimera opened his enormous mouth and fired a beam of light straight at her barrier.
The barrier shook violently under Chimera's attack. Princess Tamahime hurriedly increased her chakra output while drawing on the surrounding light elements to replenish it. Only then did she barely manage to hold the barrier together and keep Chimera from breaking through.
