The next day, after finishing a day's training with Jiraiya, Naruto went to the Hyuga Clan estate to see Hinata and happened to meet her coming out.
Naruto asked curiously, "Hinata, where are you off to in such a hurry? I wanted to talk to you about something."
Hinata was delighted to see Naruto. "Naruto-kun, I was just about to come find you, too."
Naruto asked, puzzled, "What is it? You go first, Hinata."
Hinata nodded. "I don't know why, but I've had a bad feeling all day, as if something is going to happen. I don't know what it is, but I can't stop feeling uneasy."
Naruto said, "I've had that feeling, too, but I don't know what's going to happen either. Since you're feeling it as well, I think it might involve both of us, and it won't be anything good."
Hinata asked anxiously, "Then what should we do, Naruto-kun?"
Naruto reassured her, "It's fine. I'll stand guard at the Hyuga estate tonight. I refuse to believe there's anything I can't handle. I'll go let Uncle Hiashi know that I'm staying here tonight."
Hearing that Naruto would guard her home that night eased Hinata's mind a little, but she soon blushed shyly, sweetness filling her heart.
Holding Hinata's hand, Naruto went to Hiashi and said, "Uncle Hiashi, can I stay at the Hyuga estate tonight?"
Hiashi asked in confusion, "Uh, why do you want to stay here tonight? Is something wrong?"
Naruto replied, "Yes, Uncle Hiashi. Hinata and I both feel as if something bad is going to happen tonight, so I've decided to stay here. I have to make sure Hinata doesn't get hurt."
Hiashi said calmly, "Then stay. I'll have someone prepare a room for you. If there's nothing else, you two can go enjoy yourselves."
